Power Tool Internal Vs External

As Above, So Below, As Within, So Without The Emerald Tablet circa 3000BC Reading The physical connections between the quality of our thoughts and the interpretations of our life experiences are becoming increasingly apparent, not just to the researchers who test these hypotheses, but to the scientists who review and publish the data. There exists an Internal World of our thoughts, feelings and beliefs and our External World of everything we can see, touch and feel; our physical reality of experiences and interactions. The spiritual or natural Law of Correspondence tells us that our External World is reflection of our Inner World as within, so without. This is an extraordinary principle and really says that our current reality is a mirror of what is going on inside of us. Our External World mirrors our Inner World. Our lessons in life are presented to us in the mirror of life; our experience. If we feel badly about ourselves, have low self esteem or constantly feel anger, resentment or loathing, then our outer, External World will be a place of turmoil. If we have deeply buried anger, so much so we are unaware of it, we will most likely be attracting angry people into our life. While we are denying our anger, it will be mirrored back to us. If we have strong fears around being abandoned we will possibly have people leaving us or withdrawing emotionally. If we are very critical and always beating ourselves up with our negative self talk, we may attract people who put us down, or even physically harm us. If we believe we are not supported, we will attract situations and experiences that reflect this lack of support. When we feel loved, secure, safe and happy in our Inner World, we are more likely to be surrounded by people who love us and able to create a secure happy life to the extent to which we are secure and happy within.

If we feel peace within, we will have peace in our life. If everyone could find inner peace there would be world peace. Inner Beliefs Affecting our External World Beliefs are the foundation on which we make sense of the World. Beliefs generate thoughts and emotions, which create our inner reactions and external experiences. Our beliefs determine how we respond or react to the external world and act as the blueprint for what we attract into our life. Like a seed, the imprints in our mind bear fruits. What we sow is what we reap. If we are sowing seeds of hope, trust and success that is what we will reap. The stronger and longer we hold a belief, the more likely it is to come true in our life. By knowing this, we can change our life by changing our beliefs. We need to recognise the belief patterns which are limiting us and replace these with more empowering beliefs. If these new beliefs are held as true for us, for long enough, and our actions are in alignment with the new beliefs our external reality will change to reflect this. This is the key to re-inventing our life. Most of our beliefs were internalised when we were too young to discern the truth or validity of the belief. Something was said, and was repeated so eventually we believed it to be true, or we witnessed an event which affected us deeply and we took on a belief around what happened. Many of us have deep sub- conscious beliefs that we are not even aware of. However, these beliefs are so strong they often hijack and sabotage our best efforts! If we have a belief that we are not good enough (a universal belief held by most people), we will find ourselves sabotaging our best efforts, struggling, falling short and experiencing internal blocks to success and happiness. We stamp ourselves in the foot and wonder why things are not working! It is only until we become aware of our internal self limiting programming, and negative self talk that we can begin to shift our external reality. Awareness around our internal thoughts and beliefs shines the light of truth on our darkness. We begin to become fully awake. We are able to recognise our negative and limiting thoughts. Its important we do not try and subdue our feelings. By embracing every part of ourselves, even the beliefs that cause us discomfort or

pain we acknowledge this shadow part of ourselves and in this way transformation happens. Acknowledging how we feel and allowing ourselves to go through the process of letting go, takes courage and work. Through self awareness and patience and self care, we shed the old paradigms and find higher level thoughts and beliefs that better serve us. We free ourselves from the past and open the way for newer brighter possibilities.

Whatever Your Mind Conceives and Believes, It Achieves The thoughts that we think set into motion creation and eventual fulfilment of what we are focusing in on. What we think about we bring about, what we focus on expands. So if we are in a constant state of resistance, fear, worry or doubt we are in resonance with these states and attract people, circumstances and experiences which reflect these states! Our fear grows, our doubt increases and we find more things to worry about! When we feel we do not deserve what we want or its not possible for us, this internal way of being causes blocks and challenges to achieving what we want. If we are in a state of Allowing and Open to receiving, we will recognise the right people and opportunities when they show up and take the inspired action needed. Acting at the right time, in the right way! Allowing means being in a state of TRUST, being able to let go of any attachment to the outcome. Trusting as life unfolds and flows. Even if we are faced with challenges, if our internal self belief is high, our inner guidance will support us in finding our way through with less pain and much more gain! By discerning our thoughts and underlying beliefs we begin to take control of our life and start to create by intention not by default! What We Give Out, We Get Back. We Create Our Experiences With The Thoughts We Choose To Think. Reflection What is life reflecting back to you? What kind of experiences show up for you; pleasant up lifting experiences or unpleasant, challenging experiences? Or are they somewhere in the middle? How do these experiences reflect whats going on in your internal reality? What limiting belief around money, health or relationships do you think you may have, which has kept you stuck? Can you see where this belief is reflected in your life? In which area of your life are you feeling challenged?

Which beliefs do you think are at play here? Which lessons need to be learnt? Life is a mirror it will reflect back to you what you need to address. Exercise Discern one limiting belief that has held you back, road blocked your best efforts or created self sabotage in your life. Decide if you can let it go? Are you ready for change? Now, let it go and replace it with a more empowering belief. Stay with the new belief, give it time to internalise. Take actions that reflect your new belief. Recognise any resistance and fear or doubt that may show up. Keep with it. In time the new belief will reflect in your life! Here is an example if you believe in scarcity (as opposed to a belief in abundance), you'll attract circumstances into your life that are consistent with the belief of scarcity and so you'll find yourself in a constant struggle to accumulate the wealth you desire. Note that what you think you want may not be what you need. Needs often override our wants at the core level of beliefs, so its wise to determine your core needs and check in with yourself to see if these are in alignment with your wants. Ask yourself WHY you want something; the answer to this question will guide you to the need. Its important that the new belief resonates with you. Do you believe this is possible for you? If you do not believe its possible for you, you will not be in a place of allowing, nor will you be open to receiving, as you will be in a space of I dont deserve this or Im not good enough. You will then miss the opportunities, people and circumstances that show up for you, to help support you in creating your desire or you will create a scenario of self- sabotage with self defeating and limiting behaviour. By taking control of our mind, changing the way we think and intentionally focusing on what we want, we take full responsibility for our life and jump into the driving seat of our life and confidently able to steer our direction. This is the key to personal happiness, freedom and peace of mind! Coaching Application As Coaches we support our clients through change.

Helping the client in shifting their mindset can be one of the biggest challenges we face as coaches Often the client is not aware of how their underlying beliefs and negative thinking are directly impacting their life. Through a process of supporting the client in discerning their limiting or underlying beliefs, we can begin guiding the client to understanding their internal road blocks. This awareness leads to new possibilities as we guide the client to recognise the thinking patterns that are limiting them and guide then through intentionally choosing to control what they think about! This is the first step in changing from the inside out. Working with our clients to help them recognise their thinking patterns and discern a more empowering perspective and way of thinking is one of the most powerful processes for creating lasting change. Note: It is not always easy to discern a limiting belief. However when a client reflects on their patterns of behaviour especially around situations where they feel challenged, the belief will be underlying the behaviour. Suggested Tools The Belief Game Request your client to reflect on the negative thoughts or beliefs they have. Divide a sheet of paper into two and on the right side ask the client to list the negative thoughts and beliefs which come up. Support the client in identifying a more empowering thought or belief and ask the client to note this on the left next to the limiting thought or belief. Ask the client if they are willing to let go of the old belief and replace it? If they feel the new belief is a better reflection of what they want and resonates with their values, then this is a strong YES. Every time the client recognises the disempowering thought or belief and consciously and intentionally switches to the new thought this will create a new pattern in the brain and the new thought or belief will begin to be reflected in their life. Fact or Fiction Look at your beliefs around your strengths. Think to a past experience that reflected these positive beliefs. Reflect on your successes, acknowledge yourself, feel good about them. Now look at your self limiting beliefs, how have these been reflected in your reality? Look for evidence that supports the opposite view of the limiting belief, turn this into a new belief. Build on the evidence that supports the new belief. Embrace the new belief, in time the old belief will dissipate.

For the client to fully understand that they can take control of their thoughts and intentionally change their thinking to reflect a better reality is HUGE! This shift is life changing!
