Practicals

There shall be two practical examinations for CHM-O and four practical examinations for CHM-A. The duration of each practical examination shall be of three hours including viva-voce and maximum marks in each practical examination shall be 100 [80 (Practical) + 20 (Viva-voce)]. Students shall be awarded grades in practical examinations based on the marks scored by them in the practical and viva-voce. Every candidate has to pass in both theory and practical examinations separately. 4.7 Project DOEACC hardware curriculum has a project as an important component of A level and above. The project is identified and carried out by the student under the guidance and support of guide and management of the respective accredited hardware institute. It is felt that such a project provides an opportunity to the student to apply his/ her knowledge and skills to real life problems (including oral and written communication skills), and as such the project shall be given utmost importance and priority both by the students as well as by the accredited hardware institute in respect of its identification, planning and implementation.

Examination Pattern

The theory examination for each module would be for duration of three hours and the total marks for each subject would be 100. Schedule of examinations will be announced through newspapers well in advance. Practical work will be conducted at respective accredited institutions. The Society will be responsible for holding the examination for theory and practicals. To qualify for a pass in a module, a candidate must have obtained at least 50% in each theory and practical examination. The marks will be translated into grades, while communicating results to the candidates. The gradation structure is as below: Percentage Grade

Candidates are allowed to appear in a maximum of twelve consecutive examinations, reckoned from the examination which a candidate is eligible to take as indicated in the letter of allotment of registration number to the candidate, for successfully completing CHM-O/ CHM-A Level examination. Practical Examination Scheme No. of Practical Examination : Two/ Four Duration of Each Examination : Three hour duration including viva-voce Max. Marks in each Examination : 100 = [80 (Practical) + 20 (Viva-voce)] Grading: Students will be awarded grades in practical examinations based on the marks scored in the practical and viva-voce. Every candidate has to pass in both theory and practical examinations separately. Schedule: Schedule will be announced in leading newspapers and on DOEACC websites. The practical examinations will be held at the accredited hardware institutions conducting hardware courses. The accredited hardware institute is obliged to conduct practical examinations and arrange infrastructure, faculty for conduct of practical examination. The accredited hardware institute is not allowed to charge any fee from the candidates, for practical examinations. 6. Registration Registration is meant for students and is a pre-requisite for appearing in the examinations for Hardware CHM-O or CHM-A Level course under the DOEACC Hardware Scheme. This system of registration is similar to that followed in distance education as well as in the formal stream. This shall help in monitoring the growth of a student at various levels. Some important aspects about registration are:

Registration is allowed only at one level at a time; It is valid for a specified period after which re-registration is required; After completion of a particular level successfully, registration is allowed for the next higher level after paying the prescribed fees. Registration number is unique, and will remain the same for a candidate unless the candidate changes level, without completion of the level for which initial registration is given. A candidate can surrender the registration in favour of another level. But if failed, at the original level, shall not be eligible to appear in the unsuccessful papers in the original level. Also no exemption against modules passed (even for common papers) shall be allowed at new level.

Registration with DOEACC society is a pre requisite and candidates are required to register themselves with DOEACC Society, before they can appear in an examination, by applying in the prescribed form, which can either be downloaded from DEOACC website, or is available free of cost at the counter of DOEACC Society or its Centers. on any working day, between 10.00 to 16.00 Hours. The filled in form may be submitted along with the fee as prescribed in and as per eligibility criteria given for the level. Examination forms submitted without registration number shall be rejected. REGISTRATION is open throughout the year and valid for a specified number of consecutive examinations taking into account the cut-off date for the next immediate examination after registration. There is a cut-off date beyond

which the registrants can not take examination. Number of consecutive examinations in which a student can appear is mentioned in the registration allocation letter. 7. Examinations Under the DOEACC Hardware scheme, examinations are held twice a year in February and August for CHM-O and CHM-A levels in different Centers. Eligibility to appear in the examinations has been laid down and candidates can appear through an institution-run-course. The generation of quality manpower depends upon effective evaluation system. An Examination Board consisting of experts and professionals from leading institutes and industry monitors the examinations conducted under the DOEACC Hardware Scheme. An association of such experts and professionals ensures that the conduct of examinations, including evaluation system, is industry oriented thus meeting the requirements of industry. Macro level examination by a third party, as is the case in the DOEACC Examinations, ensures a uniform standard of output all over the country. Flexibility exists in the DOEACC Hardware Scheme.

To review, modify, or update and implement changes in syllabus to keep pace with the changing needs of the industry in a fast changing technology area. To allow students having aptitude for Hardware to join the DOEACC Hardware Scheme from diverse educational backgrounds at any stage of their career.

Frequency - Examinations are generally conducted every six months in February and August starting on second/ third Saturday of the respective months. Sale of Examination Forms - The schedule for the sale of examination forms and closing date of receipt of filled-in forms is announced through advertisement in leading newspapers. The students are required to fill the examination forms. Admit Cards are dispatched to the candidates well in advance by the examination authority. Venue of the examination is indicated on the Admit Card. 8. Accreditation Requirements Under the DOEACC accreditation scheme, institutions are approved to conduct DOEACC Courses (CHM-O and CHM-A levels) based on well-defined norms and criteria. As per the criteria, such an institution is required to have:

Own premises (or if hired, the lease must be on a long term basis); Faculty consisting of both teaching and support faculty (and must meet the numbers, qualifications and experience criteria as specified for the concerned level of course); The necessary hardware as well as software to conduct training as per syllabus of a particular level course; Faculty to provide hands-on training covering at least half of the allocated time; Licensed software, as understood in terms of intellectual property rights; A library with a good selection of books and subscription to the periodicals and magazines of standard quality; Sound financial status; Close interaction with the industry.
