13B Planning the Analysis

The purpose of this assignment is to: Enable you to demonstrate your understanding of how to plan and analysis forensic evidence without contaminating samples and gain valid and accurate results fit for conviction

Scenario: As part of the forensic administration team working for the North Mercia Police Authority you are responsible for the planning of the analysis of evidence from this type of crime scene. The evidence must be processed in a way that does not waste time or resources Task 1 You need to write up a plan for the different forms of analysis you will carry out using your forensic procedures pack. In your plan you should: 1. State the objectives that your plan is designed to meet 2. List the techniques and procedures you are going to use 3. Produce a request list for the materials and equipment that you need To achieve the distinction criterion you need to present some of the concerns associated with the use of nanoparticles presented in easy to understand language so the public can understand. This provides evidence for P3 Task 2 You need to have more detail in your plans from task 1, you could write these in the same format as a standard procedure and you need to allow for modifications to procedures to allow for any unforeseen / common problems i.e. offer some alternatives to equipment, explain wet and dry mount and best situations to use each etc This provides evidence for M2 Task 3 You need to explain the risks involved in collecting each type of evidence, this could be done by including a completed risk assessment for each technique planned for in task 1 and task 2 This provides evidence for D2
