Hello. With the elections now over, how do you feel? As a Tea Party movement why are they the blame for some of these articles? Do you ever feel as if standing up for your U.S. Constitutional rights has allowed the liberals and the blame game mainstream media to paint a red target on your back as a Tea Party supporter? Well, it appears that since the election the reengineering of the election results are giving GOP moderates as well as alphabet soup network pundits greater incentive to bury the Tea Party movement in another shallow grave. One of those pundits is former President Reagan Speechwriter, Peggy Noonan who stated on CBS Face the Nation, Sunday November 11th that , The tea party style of rage is not one that wins over converts and makes people lean towards them and say, I want to listen to you. I think a friendly persuasion has to begin now from the Republican Party to people of the United States. Exactly what type of converts is Noonan referring to? Is she asking that Tea Party supporters moderate their positions so that U.S. Constitutional principles become warmed over mush? Does Noonan and other moderates want Tea Party supporters to sacrifice deeply held foundational values on the Obama alter of socialist expediency? This is absolutely and categorically not going to happen. The Sunday network talk shows are beside themselves with more than usual self serving glee to bury this genuine grass roots movement of millions of Americans as quickly as they can. The problem is clear, The Tea Party has not retreated since the 2009 continuous assault from mainstream media vicious mistruths. The goal was to label the patriot citizens as extreme, rabid racists who were only interested in destroying the failed tax and spend deficit policies that cooperative republican moderates and liberal democrats have forged for several decades. Well, guess what, one of the most important color blind leaders to come out of the 20th century probably described the Tea Party movement best. Rev. Martin Luther King taught the nation to stand up against unjust systems. Rev. King stressed: Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent. The Tea Party movement did not bend its back or kneel to the constant and sometimes withering assaults from self serving civil rights leaders like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, but it stunned the nation 2010, with the results of a survey from one of its own: the New York Times. There are hundreds of articles concerning the Tea Party movement out there. I try my best to keep most of the stuff out of this newspaper. But we are in for a tough 4 years with the way things appear. Drastic changes would mean it would have to come from the top, all the way through the Senate. The people of America voted and shockingly not everyone was dissatisfied with the way things are.

Niceville, FL-- Nothing says Christmas like Santa on a Harley. Ok, that's a slight exaggeration. But you can ho-ho-ho with Santa's elves on Harleys, Hondas, Yamahas, BMWs November 18 as the 32nd Annual Toys 4 Tots Run rumbles across south Okaloosa County. The run is sponsored each year by the Emerald Coast HOG Chapter #0672 and Heritage Cycles Harley- Davidson. The run, a holiday tradition in Fort Walton Beach and Niceville, gathers motorcyclists together for fun, music and food. The run also collects toys and gift cards for the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center's healing child abuse victims and abandoned kids living at the Children in Crisis Children's Neighborhood. The run begins in Fort Walton Beach with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. in the Sam's Club parking lot on Beal Parkway, next to Walmart. All motorcycles are welcome. Entry fee is $10 per participant and a new toy or gift card. Many bikers stop in Sam's Club or Walmart to pick out their registration toy or gift card-including many bicycles and helmets. The bike parade starts at 11 a.m. Riders will head south on Beal and hang a left at Yacht Club Drive NE. At the intersection of Yacht Club and Eglin Parkway, riders will turn left and head north on Eglin, through Shalimar and up State Road 85 (Eglin Parkway NE). Then riders turn left on Wolverine Ave/College Boulevard to the Mullet Festival site close to Northwest Florida State College's Niceville campus. The long line of motorcycles passing is an impressive sight, so if you'd like to watch, get yourself a front row seat along one of those roads by 11 a.m. At the festival site they'll have live music, food, door prizes, a silent auction, best decorated bike awards and adult and children's motorcycle contests.

It's that time of year again! The Walton County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) is beginning to prepare for the holiday season. Santa Patrol, a program in which the community donates toys and money for the purchasing of gifts for local needy children, is in its 15th season and going strong. Those interested in applying for this service will need to arrive on November 24, 2012 at the DeFuniak Springs Civic Center between the hours of 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Applications will be given out on a first come first serve basis. All applicants will be checked for duplication services with other organizations out of fairness to others who are not already receiving assistance. There will be limited child care provided on site. There will be no applications distributed at the Walton County Sheriff's Office. Applications must be filled out on the date and location listed above. Sgt. Danny Garner, who is overseeing the program this year, says that they are accepting new/unopened toys for stockings for donations, as well as money. Checks will be accepted and should be made out to WalMart and "Santa Patrol" written in the note at the bottom of the check. "This is a chance for the public to make a Walton County child's Christmas a little brighter. The generosity and kindness of those who donate never ceases to amaze me. To see the look on a family's face knowing that they won't have to go without is the greatest gift of all." If you are interested in donating to this worthy cause, contact Sgt. Danny Garner at (850) 892-8186.

Man Found Hiding In Truck

A search for a man who ran while deputies were investigating a suspicious activity call ended when two Laurel Hill residents located him hiding inside their pickup truck and held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived. Sgt. Mark Raiche was responding to the call on West Plympton Road around 2:15 Tuesday afternoon when he saw a man later identified as 31year-old Jacy Dane McCuiston. While trying to make contact with McCuiston about his presence outside the home, McCuiston gave a fake name, and took off running. Deputies learned McCuiston had outstanding felony warrants for burglary, grand theft, and grand theft of a firearm. An extensive search was conducted that included the use of tracking dogs from Okaloosa Correctional Institution. However around 9 oclock p.m., deputies responded to a call of a suspicious person on Harper Road in Laurel Hill. A homeowner says she was aware there was a fugitive at large in the area. She went out to check on her vehicles and saw a man inside her truck. She and her husband retrieved guns and when the man got out of the truck and came towards them, ordered him to stop. He was arrested for several violations and taken to jail.

When it comes to germs, it's not all about the bathroom. The kitchen is the germiest room in the house. From the countertops and sink to the cutting boards and refrigerator, the kitchen is teeming with billions of microorganisms. "I dont think we take quite as serious an approach to cleaning kitchens as we do bathrooms, and we should," "We should have more respect for kitchens." You can tackle those nasty kitchen germs that lurk where you prepare your family's meals. Here are some kitchen hot spots and tips for how to clean them up.

The Germiest Kitchen Item?

Kitchen sponge. This is probably the most germ-filled item in your house. It's used to sop up all kinds of germs and grime and then often stored under the sink -- a wet, dark place that's a perfect environment for bacteria to grow. Washing a sponge in the dishwasher also isn't enough to kill germs unless you have an extremely high-heat germicide cycle. You can use paper towels or a clean cloth; be sure to use the cloth only once and then toss it in the laundry. If you do use sponges, you can soak them between cleanings in a solution of no more than 1 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water, or vinegar and water. Soak them in the bleach solution for about 5 minutes or in the vinegar solution for 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and let air dry.

A large crowd of young and old gathered in front of the Freeport City Hall Monday to celebrate the Freedoms Veterans protect for us. Local veterans were joined by elected officials, the Freeport Town Planters, Glenda Penton and residents to honor veterans and dedicate another addition to the Citys memorial. The new Fallen Soldiers Monument depicts a woman kneeling at the grave of a soldier. Freeport native Jerry Hatcher, Captain US Navy retired, spoke about what it takes to be a soldier or sailor. He served and was awarded a number of honors, mostly for his work with helicopters. Latilda Henniger, Freeports City Planner, sang the National Anthem and the Walton High Air Force Jr. ROTC presented the Colors and raised flags of each military branch. Tim Ard, Fallen Veterans Memorial Chair gave the introductions and told of the effort to bring the memorial to the grounds. Marty Faircloth with Woodmen of the World noted the gift of flags. The Walton County Sheriffs Office gave a gun salute, played Taps and two men in kilts played Amazing grace on the drum and bagpipes. Russ Barley and Eleanor Turner placed the wreath on the monument. The day took time to remember all veterans, not just the fallen, but those who have served and are still serving. Glenda Penton, whose son Timothy Padgett lost his life in service, spoke. She has taken up the banner of making sure Padgetts sacrifice and that of others is not forgotten.

Counters. To wipe out lots of kitchen WALK-INS counter germs at once, I suggest sprayWELCOME! ing a 10% vinegar solution on counters. Keep the surface wet for 30 to 60 seconds, then wipe. Keep purses, briefcases, lunchboxes, keys, mail, and electronic devices like remote controls off counterunit tops because they're teeming with germs. (l.c.s PizzA /vet PlAzA)

SWHS Bomb Threat
As reported by WZEP AM1460

Everyone Gets 3 Jobs How Obama just created 20 Million new jobs. So in the wake of the last presidential election there are a few truths. Obama care will be implemented, companies will do whatever they have to do in order to not see negative impacts to their business, and many people will have 3 jobs. So what exactly does that mean? Companies will institute the 25 hour work week. Think I am joking, off base, or just a wako? Well come back and read this 5 years from now and we will settle it over a beer. (We will have to flip a coin over who is serving) Companies are now faced with a reality that is a first for the US. It is no longer a question of if they need to provide benefits such as health care to attract employees, but rather can they afford to increase the coverage for a large section of workers that fill the lower paying full time positions. Small businesses that offer benefits are going to face new regulations that dictate how much medical benefits they MUST offer. The minimum standards set by Obama care will force companies to either increase that coverage or decrease the number of full time employees they have. Thank that is crazy, read the bill! What is worse, there really is nothing to stop the government from adjusting the minimum standard So if an election is coming and they think allot of people will vote for them if they now include free eye glasses, contacts, and laser eye surgery.. Guess what? The standard will increase to include that. So what does this mean for the working class? Those that fill the lowest paying full time positions in companies with over 50 employees are going to be the victim of a companys hard choice. Either pay-up for the medical benefits, pay-up for the fines, or do the logical thing and reduce the full time workers to hourly workers and cut hourly workers to less than 30 hours per week. That way every employee still gets government provided health care, but can only work 25-30 hours a week. Many companies are already testing the waters on this exact model. So what is a worker to do with all that free time? Oh yeah, they still have bills to pay. So now a worker has to get a second part time job to make up for lost income due to the hours that were cut. But is that enough? With no paid vacation plan hour limit, or paid sick leave, if they are down or out they dont get paid from either job. Many if not most will have to opt to get a third job to bank savings for that event. WHY? They cant work overtime anymore to make extra money because companies will be forced to create strict hours per week rules so they are not impacted by the health care penalty that starts at 30 hours. But hey the weekly jobs numbers and explosive growth in the number of jobs will be great news. Oh, so I could be off base on one thing. Those companies that choose to still offer medical plans will not force people off full time roles. They will just pay more for their benefits resulting in two things, less people will be hired, and/or will get lower take home pay for those that are left. So if youre just getting by, or are just inside the bottom of the middle class, congratulations, your taxes will not go up, but your hours will go down. Are you ready?

WCSO Arrests Two

Walton County Sheriffs Office deputies made two arrests last Wednesday night while attempting warrant service on E. Toledo Ave., DeFuniak Springs. Deonta Keshawn Smith, 21, of DeFuniak Springs, was wanted by authorities for Failure to Appear. Smith was located on E. Toledo and as he was being searched, deputies found a small bag containing a substance that field tested for crack cocaine. A marijuana cigarette and $970 in cash were also located on Smith. Smith was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell/deliver. While on scene at the residence, deputies also located a marijuana plant under a lighting system, a small amount of marijuana and rolling papers, and a Loritab pill. Michael Allen Lane, 46, who also resides on E. Toledo Avenue was arrested as well and charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, and production of marijuana. Both Smith and Lane were transported and booked into the Walton County Department of Corrections.

At around 1 pm Thursday afternoon, Walton County Sheriffs Office received a call from staff at South Walton High School stating a male subject had made a statement he heard there was a bomb at the school that was going to go off. He then ran off. Deputies arrived in the area and began the search for the subject. They located him and he was detained for questioning. Supt. Carlene Anderson also released information regarding the bomb threat made at South Walton High School. She says students were evacuated and are safe. Students may be picked up at the field house. Car riders have been dismissed and bus riders will be transported from the field house. Walton County Sheriff's Office is investigating. In the meantime, the school was evacuated and placed on lockdown. Parents are picking up students. For those who are wanting to pick up their children they will need to use entrance off of JD Miller Road. School buses will not leave until they are all checked. The subject was not a current student at the school. Deputies on scene are waiting for bomb squad from Bay County to arrive. Eglin bomb squad is also assisting. All was cleared and safe to go by 9pm. Deputies and investigators with the Walton County Sheriffs Office responded quickly today when they were dispatched to South Walton High School in reference to a possible bomb on campus. At approximately 1 p.m., a white male entered South Walton High School and informed staff members there was possibly a bomb somewhere at the school. The suspect then ran out of the school as staff attempted to stop him. Students were immediately evacuated and the school was placed on lockdown. Eglin EOD was contacted and responded to the scene. The school was cleared with negative findings. The suspect was located a short time later by deputies and witnesses were able to identify him. The suspect, Edwin Donald Campbell, 18, of Santa Rosa Beach, was detained and questioned by investigators. Campbell admitted to making a false bomb threat, a second degree felony. He will be transported and booked into the Walton County Department of Corrections.

Freeport Fire Rescue creates "Hall of History"; makes positive changes

In the past few months, the Walton County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) has assisted the City of Freeport with operational oversight of the Freeport Fire Department. Interim Chief Al Ford has been placed at the station to oversee the operations of the department. Ford serves as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the Walton County Sheriff's Office. -According to Interim Fire Chief Al Ford, he has his men "tidying up" the station. "The station is their home away from home. They should feel comfortable here and take pride in their job as well as their equipment and surroundings." Ford said the men have been patching, sanding, and painting the walls in the station and have started a "hall of history" for the fire department. The hall showcases photos and memorabilia from the department's early days and the firefighters hope to decorate with even more photos from the present to the future. Ford says his men are proud of their profession and that they hope to preserve the history of the department by starting the display. -Ford said that they have also received permission to have dumpster service at the station, whereas the department only received regular service pickup once a week. This led to overflowing garbage cans. -Freeport firefighters recently took old clothes and toy donations gathered throughout the year from generous members of the public and delivered the load to Caring and Sharing. Ford said the store was extremely glad to see the items come in. -Freeport City Council members approved purchasing new equipment and dress uniforms for the department. "These guys have never had a proper dress uniform. They are excited to receive Class B uniforms." Other than the new uniforms, the firefighters received new pagers. These pagers provide 24/7 notification capability for alerting firefighters of incoming calls for service.

Dear Aunt Ruby, I feel a need to tell someone about my feelings and maybe you can assist me with advice on what to do now. My sister and I have always struggled with her wanting my boyfriends after I am excited to be with them. This causes some of the worst name callings youve ever heard. I cant stand this. Here we are years later and I am about to get married to a wonderful man I met 3 years ago. My sister had gotten drunk on several occasions and made passes at my man and I shrug it off. Inside I am raging mad over this. Should I keep her from being at my wedding? The way she acted in the past gets me nervous about her being there. Any suggestions? Nervous in Freeport Dear Nervous, If you can have a heart to heart talk with your sister expressing your concerns maybe then you might feel differently about your wedding. After all it is your day! If after talking you still feel at unease I would have someone by the front door to assure that she not come into the ceremony. Good Luck to you. Ruby

To the Editor,

The 14 day Overview

Aquarius 1/20 2/18 Pisces 2/19 3/20 Aries 3/21 4/19 Taurus 4/20 5/20 Gemini 5/21 6/21 Cancer 6/22 7/22 Leo 7/23 8/22 Virgo 8/23 9/22

I would like to point out a factual error on the "letters to the editor" column. You've got more energy on Monday than anyone really has a right to have, especially on the slowest day of the The writer wants the reader to believe that a 3.8% tax will be imposed on all real week! Enjoy it and get ahead of the game while you're at it. Your altruism kicks in midweek, and you find yourself giving more than you thought you had to someone in need. That's great karma, and it helps smooth state sales to finance "Obama care". the way You run up against reality somewhat on Monday, and might find that a plan of yours is unrealistic. Don't despair, though -- you've got a golden opportunity to reinvent yourself right away, and the energy to pull it off with flair! Whatever you've been dreaming of, you should be able to manifest soon. The second half of the week is all about dreaming up a new identity Look at you, putting someone or something besides yourself first as the week begins! A little selflessness has you feeling good (and looking like a charmer). But starting sometime Wednesday, issues that lie beneath the surface need to be brought out and processed, or things could get ugly. Allow time for decompression, and consciously cultivate transformation and growth. You need to say 'no' at some point on Monday, if only to assert yourself in the face of massive weirdness. Things settle down considerably over the next couple of days, and you may start to understand what people were thinking earlier -- though you still believe (correctly) that you were right. While many of us question this legislation, it serves no purpose to give out false information on this or any issue. There is no wholesale tax on the sale of homes. The example given by the writer would have you believe that a $3,800 tax would be imposed on the sale of a $100,000 home (3.8%). This is totally false.

The law provides under HR 4872 a new section 1411 which calls for high income individuals making adjusted gross incomes over $250,000 to be subject to a 3.8% You feel more energetic than usual on Monday, and your alertness should come in handy as big ideas start getting tossed around pretty quickly. Your response affects your reputation somewhat, especially over the next capital gains tax on profits in excess of $500,000 for a married couple and few days, so don't be shy about making the most of this opportunity. Pay attention to what people are saying $250,000 for an individual. about you You need to deal with your finances early on Monday -- otherwise, things might get a little out of control this week! Take a few minutes to save several hours later. The next few days are free and easy for you, and your great energy almost guarantees that you have a good time with your friends and family. You've got far more options available to you than you realize. Your friends take a bit of news rather oddly midweek, and you might not understand until the missing piece of the puzzle gets filled in later. Someone finally fills you in by Friday, and your opinion of at least one person changes for the better in a big way! A family member -- a child, if you're a parent -- needs some advice as the week begins, but it's vital that you keep it strictly positive. Any serious criticism has to wait for a better time. Try to think big on Tuesday and Wednesday, because your usual firm grasp of details isn't working as well. Later in the week, you've got a better handle on the small stuff, but others may need help. You've got romance on the brain (and in the heart) as you begin your week, so spend extra time with your heart's desire or seek them out in some new venue. Tuesday and Wednesday aren't especially thrilling, though you may spot a few lovely little moments here and there that really brighten your mood. You are at your best with one-on-one situations like dates or job interviews Regardless of the merits of Obama Care when was the last time that anyone you know made a profit of $500,000 on the sale of a house.

Dear Editor, I just picked up one of your newspapers and felt a need to let you know that this is a fine addition to Freeport and for the county. Times are tough these days and to see a small business such as yours remain is a good thing.

Libra 9/23 10/22 Scorpio

Conflicting ideas are more problematic than ever on Monday, so try to avoid huge fights by agreeing to onesided compromises -- as long as you can take the consequences. You can expect a surge of great energy to 10/23 11/21 come midweek that fills you with a playful spirit. Others are in awe and want to join in.

Sagittarius 11/22 12/2 Capricorn 12/22 1/19

Jump on anything that seems right to you, because at least some of these options won't be repeated any time soon. Your great energy pops back on Thursday and helps you have lots of fun with your basic daily activities. Make a game out of cleaning or paperwork and let others in on the secret. The weekend is all about details, Dear Editor, though you'd rather kick back and look at the long-term. I wish your newspaper would go back to every week. There are so many times that I Let people do what they want on Monday -- but step back when you've had enough! There's no need to emmiss an edition, these things are popular and brace their crazy schemes just to feel like part of the club. You can connect with them midweek over other seem to go fast. business, and you should find that you're much closer to their wavelength then. You crave stability more than anything else Thank you, we print 2500 every other week hitting the streets on Wed. noon time.

WALTON COUNTY SNOWBIRDS

The Walton County Snowbird club is gearing up for its twenty-third season on the Emerald Coast. Club president, Tom Schwichtenberg, anticipates an excellent turnout of new and returning snowbirds when the club opens its doors to the first registrants on November 26. He said the clubs activity roster continues to blossom with excitement as new activities are added while yet maintaining those that have enjoyed long popularity. He was referring to ballroom dancing, basketball, bicycling, bowling, golf, tennis, fishing, and aerobic exercise classes. He said those seeking mental stimulation will find plenty in the arts and crafts departments, book discussions, cards, a creative writing workshop, a general discussion group, a computer club, and bus trips to Biloxi where members may test their favorite theory of probability. Music makers may enlist in the ranks of the Snowbird Singers, or for instrumentalists, the Snowbird Ensemble. Exercise enthusiasts will be glad to learn the club has added three new exercise classes Pilates, rumba, and Taoist Tai Chi. All this for a $9 membership fee good for the entire season! Keep current with up-to-the minute information at the clubs updated and easier-than-ever-to-navigate website: http://www.waltoncountysnowbirds.com. Walton County snowbirds tend to gather at Faith Assembly Fellowship Hall located at 306 South Geronimo. What a great place to catch up with old friends or make new ones or to make contact with committee chairs to discuss activities or sign on to volunteer for one or more of the clubs three dozen or so activities. Membership registration takes place there beginning November 26 between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. and again on December 3, December 10, December 17and continuing each Monday until February 11. Past President Bonnie Schwichtenberg recently said the club will have an all-new board this season. She added that many opportunities exist for volunteers to take a leadership position in the clubs activities. Here is the line-up for the new season: President Tom Schwichtenberg Past President Bonnie Schwichtenberg Secretary Irene Hinds Assistant Treasurer - Pam Misenick Information Officer - Bill Neidel Member-at-large Jeannette Diggins Member-at-large - Ron Donkers The board is seeking volunteers to fill vacancies in the First Vice President, Second Vice President and Treasurer slots. Speaking of volunteers, the Prize-Collection Committee offers a unique opportunity for snowbirds to meet with local managers of retail stores and other businesses that welcome the winter migration of snowbirds to the Emerald Coast. Volunteers may call Jeanette Diggins at 850- 424-6162 or inquire at diggins2001@yahoo.com for information on how to take part. The clubs annual festive Christmas Dinner tickets will be available November 26, December 3 or 10th at Faith Assembly Fellowship Hall located at 306 South Geronimo Street in Miramar Beach, 8:30-10:00 a.m. Celebrants will gather at the Embassy Suites on Old 98 for elegant dining and the exchange of gaily-wrapped white elephant gifts and contribute a nourishing non-perishable food item for the less fortunate. Look for information on the clubs website at http://www.waltoncountysnowbirds.com/Activity_Listing.html. Jerry Barton and his gang of jolly volunteers will be on hand to assist returning snowbirds who wish to claim items from storage. Dates and collection hours are December 3, 17, and 28 between the hours of 3 and 4 p.m. Those who care to volunteer may call Jerry at (cell) 847-400-6166 or email him at jbarton@cass.net.
