Athletic Bags with ATTITUDE!

January 28, 2009

Dear Barrack,

First of all, let me congratulate you and thank you for becoming the 44 th President of the United
States!

I must admit I was very impressed with you from the first time that I saw you give the keynote speech
at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. I had an immediate and clear vision that you would
someday be President of the United States… Or maybe it was just a personal desire!

Although I felt very strong about this, I tried not to allow this or the other times I saw or read about you
to interfere with my intent on doing un-biased due diligence this election. I kept an open mind and
listened and learned as much as possible about both you and Senator McCain through traditional
sources i.e. parents, television, radio, newspapers and non-traditional sources i.e. the internet,
conversations with friends in Chicago, etc.

When it was all said and done, there you were at the top of the list with more pros than any other
candidate. So I voted for you. You were the clear choice! The fact that you seem to love basketball
as much as I do didn’t hurt either… 

I am a 3rd generation Spokane Valley, Washington person and small business owner. My grandfather,
Nick Shein, came from Montana in the late depression and started up an auto body and paint shop,
United Auto Body, which he ran successfully for more than 35 years until my grandmother, Millie,
became ill and died of cancer. Their second to the oldest daughter, Lola, my mother, and one of the
First Woman Automobile Sales Representatives in the Northwest – raised 4 children on her own. She
often worked 2 jobs from the time she was 28 years old without any support from my father to do so.
Believe me, we went without a lot of the time and drank our fair share of powder milk.

I am now a 43 year old single father and small business owner. I am helping to put my 20-year old
daughter, Cassandra, through college and raising my 11-year old son, Christian, full time. My mother
and I work together in our business, a small sport-specific athletic bag company, SPORT SAQ (see
catalog and samples enclosed). We have been working extremely hard to keep our business alive
and growing. Because of this economy, we have not had much luck obtaining the needed capital to
grow our business. We desperately need your help as many small business owners need your help in
the fight to stay alive!

In closing, I would just like to say I have faith in you. I look forward to working with you to help this
wounded beautiful country regain its composure and shine once again. Keep strong, we got your
back!

Sincerely,

Curtis Medlen
