I am applying for a DAAD Study Scholarship to pursue a masters degree in Software Engineering and Management at the Hochschule-Heilbronn in Heilbronn. This degree is designed to embrace theoretical concepts along with the practical aspects of foundations of the software engineering coupled with business management. With the assistance of DAAD and scientific resources available in Heilbronn, I will be able to strengthen my competence in the general field prior to commencing my professional career in this field of business. In studying computer science I have gained insight in various programming languages, paradigms, data structures as well as methodologies for creating software solutions, including having done research on artificial intelligence as my graduation project, which required processing huge amounts of data and analyzing it, searching for patterns and correlations. By pursuing the masters degree in Software Engineering and Management, I intend to expand my understanding of software engineering and conduct projects in software engineering field. I am especially interested in the software life cycle as a whole, starting from the software requirements through software design, software construction and testing (unit testing, integration testing, system testing, verification and validation testing), finishing with software maintenance. Having been extensively engaged in breadth research as an undergraduate, I seek to complement my graduate studies with the depth component. Software engineering component will improve my team working skills, as there will be lots of social interaction, especially between members of the same teams, sometimes even between members of different teams, as there will be a lot of feedback going on between not only individuals within a group, but also groups themselves.

Having done many freelance projects during my undergraduate education (be it for the academic purposes or the commercial purposes), I have had the opportunity to work on projects utilizing the methods in the previously mentioned phases of software engineering. In that regard my experience is pretty humble, and there is a lot more for me to learn as far as any of the phases is concerned. The other specialty that I am looking to acquire through masters degree in Software Engineering and Management is the management of the whole software life cycle, especially from the perspective of software requirements, which include the analysis of business requests made by the clients, constant communication with the client, in a trial and error fashion. It will also expand my knowledge of making the business requirements, functional requirements, user requirements and non-functional requirements. The program is designed to create engineers equipped with leadership, applied software engineering practices, as well as interpersonal and intercultural competences. As the requirements of the program state, the masters thesis is mandatory if a degree is to be gotten. In order to achieve that goal, I wish to part take a project in a software company in or near Heilbronn, under the supervision of my mentor, which would combine the knowledge acquired throughout the studies, both from the software engineering as well as business management areas to make a software worthy of a student holding a Masters degree.
