CASE: Real-Life Case Research 9.1 Understanding Buyer Behavior, pages 324-325.

Answer all the questions at the end of the case.

Make sure to include at least 2-4 references and elaborate your discussions to the
week's assignment. Provide examples to prove your points. Aim for a minimum of

1) This question is too personal of a question. It should be replaced with one that has
brackets so as not get too personal.
2) Again this follows the same line of questioning as question one.
3) This question is also a bit too personal; I think it should also be bracketed.
4) This is a good question. It gets the needed information on education.
5) Same as question 4) locates the same needed information.
6) This could be a tricky question especially if unemployment rates are higher.
7) This is very complicated question; if I’m doing a survey I don’t feel like trying to
attempt rocket science. No trick questions. Plus this is a survey not a credit application,
so the exact amount of money made can be too personal.
8) This could follow the same line of question as question six.
9) This one is like the question 7.
10) This is a good question; I’d like to know these kinds of information.
11) Another good question. Knowing the size of a family can be very useful.
12) The ages of the children is a great way to narrow the type of marketing
13) I don’t know if this information is going to be very useful.
14) This question can put stress on the family unit. The husband can be in big trouble if
he brags that he is the big shot in the house hold.
15) Good question looking into the family structure.
16) This is a good way to find out what kinds of places the testers visit
17) We’re not putting the tester on the stand, so we can’t do a grand jury indictment.
18-22) This a good question to get useful information.

2. Suggest some question that could be used to under stand shopping behavior, for both
goods and services, in a Midwestern city?

1) When you are looking for specific item to buy how do you find out where to shop.
2) Do you go to more then one store to when shopping.
3) how much do you spend during the typical outing?
4) what did you like about your last shopping trip.
3. How should the revised questionnaire be recorded?

On a one sided piece of paper, in simple forms that are easy to read and to follow.
