Marian Stauder Phase 3 Instructional Program: Grocery Shopping (B) Context for instruction: The instruction will take

place in Aldi on Prospect three mornings a week. B might be one of a few students at Aldi, but they work on other skills. Miss Stauder will be presenting instruction. Materials will be actual groceries and money as well as Bs picture shopping list. Skill Sequence:

Research Rationale: attached Program Objective: When shopping at the grocery store, B will correctly complete 90% of steps of the task analysis across 3 consecutive trials. Generalization: B will need to generalize between different items to buy. The instructor will train sufficient exemplars by changing the items on the list every time. (Im not worrying about other stores until mastery, so that would be sequential modification.) Rationale: Teaching B to grocery shop will allow her to grocery shop independently. This will also give her the skills to pay for other items on her own. By having these skills, B will be able to make more choices about what she buys.

Marian Stauder Phase 3 Instructional Procedure: (continued in chart) Using a constant time delay, with the controlling prompt as a verbal directive (see chart). Chaining isnt going to work because items vary; therefore, all steps will be on time delay. Once a step is completed successfully in a probe, that step will move to a 5second time delay. If an error is made, that step would revert back to 0 seconds until the next probe. The error correction procedure is the same as the controlling prompt. Also, to remember isles, there is also a stimulus prompt: Remember, Isle (X) has after one positive probe for the isle, it is faded to, Whats in isle (X)? After another positive probe it is eliminated completely Reinforcement: B will be continuously reinforced with specific praise. It will be paired with the natural reinforcer of finding the correct items and making correct purchases Maintenance: After B reaches mastery, continue probing every two weeks, for B will have many chances to practice these skills.
