Brenna Dwyer Ingram October 15 2012 English 1103 Behaviors in children One group of people who are looking

into the behaviors of children is nutritionists and penetrations. They suggest that diet and nutrition both have a huge part to play in the behaviors of children. It is thought among this crowd that foods that are heavy in dyes can cause negative behaviors in young children as opposed to a well-balanced diet that can cause good behaviors. For example, magnesium can help keep a child tame or calm. This is an ingredient that you will not find in many processed foods but in home cooking. Lack of chromium can cause mood swings and lack of iron can cause tiredness and lack of alertness. Foods like caffeine and added sugars can lead kids to have more frequent out breaks and temper tantrums. (Dellaserra) Nutritionists are people who study food and nutrition in order to give advice on what people should consume to obtain desired bodily behaviors. Penetrations are doctors who specialize mainly in children. They believe that this is important for the well-being of young children to have a healthy diet. Other people who might find this information useful might be teachers who are preparing snack time for a class of young students, parents of young children and perhaps even babysitters who are in charge of feeding young kids. The people on this side of the argument believe that food and diet has a huge part to do with a childs behaviors. Another group of people who are looking into the behaviors of young children

would be people who claim that a child behavior is due to their upbringing. They say that shows that if a child is abused he/she is more likely to show signs of criminal behavior and/or develop a psychological disorder. Research shows that most criminals and people who have showed criminal behaviors have a history of violence or abuse in their house holds as children. As opposed to people who have been brought up in loving environments who are more likely to succeed in life. The people looking into this side of the argument would be child psychologists and social workers because they work with troubled kids on a daily basis. They are able to see the differences between children the children who talk about having nice homes as opposed to those who talk about or show signs of abuse. The purpose of them looking into this topic is to stop child abuse and make people aware of the dangers it can have on the future of society. The third group of people who are looking into this topic are psychological scientists who claim that behaviors are genetic. It is believed that a new study has found that a particular gene has a great influence on whether or not a child shows alarming behaviors. They say that the CHRM2 gene causes children to show more problematic behaviors and aggressive tendencies. This gene does not lead to substance abuse but bad behaviors in general. They do say that this gene can be brought out by the lack of parent involvement in the lives of their children, but it is mostly genetic. (Menon) Psychological scientists have been looking into this topic for years. They are concerned with whether or not childrens behaviors are genetic or learned. This information can be very beneficial for the overall good of society in years to come. Studies like this have only become possible in the past few years, and are starting to widen how

psychological scientists think about psychiatric disorders.
