2: Skills Descriptions, Builds & Usage

2.1 Skill Descriptions

Breathe Fire

Usage: good for canceling clarities or for harassing around level5 and onwards. If you lane up
with a stunner/nuker than it's pretty good as a finishing move. Not adviced for farming unless
you wish to clear the creeps fast or when are way too many of them to simply hit them down
one-by-one. Always aim between you and the target hero, never click on your target unless when
it's stunned.

Dragon Tail
Usage: in early game it's good for "surprising" hungry enemies who run under your tower or as a
follow-up disable to kill a hero. As it has a short range you cannot really rely on it until you get a
higher MS compared to your enemies and/or lvl3 ulti for the slow (and sange).

Dragon Blood

Usage: put points on the skill, lul.

Elder Dragon Form

Usage: use level1 EDF for pushing or laning purposes. Corrosive attack is really great against
towers, while the ranged attack allows you to grab some last hits in tough lanes or harass an
opponent out of your lane if it was equal till then. Level2 EDF is mainly good for farming, not
that bad in team fights either if your opponents are staying too near to each other, but otherwise
it's not that wow. The MS bonus comes useful though. Level3 EDF is the crazy shit. You can
easily chase down anybody with just Treads, not to mention the S&Y build. >_< It should be
activated if you plan to gank heroes or if you are ganked. And for clearing big waves of creeps or
stacked ancients.

2.2 Skill Build

3: Item Builds, Alternatives and How to Use Them

3.1 Core Item Build

3.2 Details & Justifications

STR Treads + Bracers - you need STR more than any other attributes. You already have high
armor, you have a nice amount of HP, but with even more strength you will become an even
deadlier tank. Buying 3 Bracers an STR Treads will make sure you won't go down to focus fire
too easily and that your team can catch up on the action while you are tanking and trying to do
some snitz as well whenever you get a little time to take a breath.

Helm of the Dominator - one of the best farming tool in your hands. No joke! Not just the
possibility of farming neutrals without the need to go back, but also for taking over the control of
a Centaur for example and to use it for pulling ancients. In a normal game your orb effect should
be lifeleech.

Black King Bar - was nerfed. True. So? Still an amazing item for your hero especially in
organized games where teams will be smart enough to lock you down before you could fart in
their face. If you roll your enemies early to mid game, it might be better to delay buying this item
for the longer duration (especially against AoE heavy line-ups).

3.3 Item Choices Afterwards

Sange & Yasha - this should be gotten if you decided not to buy HotD for pulling creeps and
you want to chase heroes much earlier in the game. Travel might be gotten in this case for
permahaste, but Treads should suffice for the movementspeed lameness. Another situation when
you're better off buying S&Y is when you are stressed on farming. It's easy to build up and gives
you the hope for coming back as a beastly carry.

Radiance - the typical carry item, especially for tanks like Davion. Wasn't that popular on him
though, because in old times Guinsoo was taken for disabling madness while lately Satanic or
Buriza or Cuirass is applied on the dragon knight. Radiance slows you down way too much and
you won't be able to participate in the important mid game team fights. But if you are allowed to
free farm, then go ahead. And if the game drags for too long and none of your allies bought it, it
might be useful for your team.

Cuirass - an amazing item on the Dragon Knight. Even higher armor, so hard to kill by physical
attacks. Also a much needed boost on your attack speed and providing all of these to your allies
as well even partially. In pushing teams it might be good as the first major DPS item, but
generally it's better to buy it as second or maybe third carry item.

Heart of Tarrasque - tanking madness to counter massive nukes. It was buffed a lot in 6.56, the
15 HP/sec is a huge amount of regeneration.

Buriza-do Kyanon - best as second or third DPS item. Preferably third as it becomes better as
your damage and IAS is boosting.

Satanic - once you don't need to pull creeps anymore, you may upgrade that HotD into
something more useful in team fights. Especially great against heroes with lifeleech, so you can
counter them with the same technique that they are using.

3.4 Alternative/Situational Items

Hand of Midas - get it if you can farm it in less than 8 minutes (counting from the first creep
spawn). Helps a lot in farming throughout the game and adds very helpful IAS for your hero.

Bottle - not really recommended, better to just go for tangos early game. If you'd like to play a
roaming DK instead of carry, then this is your item.
Armlet of Mordiggian - get this instead of HotD if one of your allies already buy it (i.g: Luna).
Good for boosting early-mid game performance, suited for less farming styles.

4: Hero Specific Strategies and Techniques

Techniques

Ancient Pull - not too diffuclt to execute. Simply convert a tougher neutral and put it on patrol
near your ancients. It will work as a ward as well, so it's quite useful. When the clock hits x.50
(Sentinel) or x.52 (Scourge) then move your creep near to the anceints and once they start
attacking it, go back as much as possible. If you did it correctly, then once the creeps return,
there will be an additional 3 creeps waiting for them. Another way to pull the neutrals is
described in the link below, definitely worths a read.

TeleTransform - nothing biggy. If you are farming a different lane when your allies are ganked
or they gank or you wish to defend your base, then teleporting away from your current position
while being Dragon Form will ensure that the duration counter will pause while you are
teleporting. So it's sometimes better to active your ultimate form and THEN teleporting the
battlefield, so that you instantly have the boosted MS, range and possibly the cold attack.

Strategies

Soloing - when you solo you should maximize Dragon Blood 95% of the time as you will most
probably get harassed out of lane otherwise. With the nice armor and amount of HP regeneration
you may concentrate on purely last hitting so that you can farm a fast Midas or HotD. This is
essential especially in the solo lane. If your lane is to hard to control, then just stay in XP range
(1000 distance from the dieing creep) and try killing creeps under your tower. Middle lane is
prefered or if you have a jungler who can help out, then you can go bottom lane (for Sentinel) as
well.

Laning - lane up with a babysitter (Lich, Lock etc) or with a ranged nuker/stunner. Your prefered
lane will be the long lane (bottom for Sentinel) as your babysitter/lanepartner can pull creeps
while you are staying for the XP in the lane. If you can go agressive then try to get into a
situation where you can stun one of your opponents. If you get them fall asleep (not agroing
anyone even when staying near to them and their creeps for last hits and denies) then you will be
able to suddenly throw your shield at one of them. After this your Lich/Lina/Lion ally can
continue so that you can grab the kill or at least send back the target enemy.

Farming - last hit. Once you have HotD, go into the woods more regularly. Also use the Ancient
Pull technique as once you become level16, it will be child's play to grab 2000 golds in less than
a minute. Farming is essential for you as you have to carry your team in mid and late game.

Ganking - if you are in human form then you either go from behind and initiate or you wait for
an ally to initiate (Venge or SkeleK with their high ranged disables) then follow up with Dragon
Tail. If you are in lvl3 Dragon Form, then just hit&chase and once you are close enough, stun
and continue.

Getting Ganked - turn on your ultimate form if possible. Try to juke your enemies by using the
fog of war in the forest and behind cliffs. If you have a teleport scroll then try to teleport away
while you are unseen. If you are confident enough that you could withstand quite some hits, then
you could as well stun one of the heroes under the tower (the one which is focused by the tower)
and kill him. But only if you are sure it worths sacrificing for if you can stay alive even after this
risk.

5v5 Fights - your role is going in under avatar and hit until everyone is dead. Try to focus heroes
next to each other for maximum potential of your splash attack. If they disperse and you cannot
damage multiple heroes with one hit then it's advised to kill the hero with highest DPS or a hero
that is stun-locked and could not use ulti. The latter is even better in most cases, like killing a
Lich who is already a low HP hero and whose main role in a team fight is using Chain Frost.

5: Replays and Videos

KDK3 Round3 - FaP vs -dT- | Davion by FaP.black.Storm aka Duplacsiga

Replay Thread - Download here!
This is a game where we completely dominated our opponents. Worth watching for seeing how

well Davion can solo against SF and why the neutral wolf is so powerful if dominated. Csiga
farmed around 1500 golds from ancient pulls.
Build: Midas->Treads->Armlet->Satanic->Hyper

FaP scrim Pete with DK | Davion by FaP.m0ngEr aka Beast_Pete

Replay Parsel - Download here!
This was the rematch against a clan that humiliated our bodies in the first game due to our bad
picks. So we proceeded to ban "their" heroes and outpick them this time... or was it really an
outpick? See it for yourself!
Build: Midas->HotD->Treads->BKB->Platemail->Satanic->Hyperstone

6: Summa Summarum
Finished it a bit later than planned. But finally public now and hope you all like it. Gonna add
more self-replays as time progresses into 2009.
