The Outcomes of Industrialization Sacrifices are needed in order to advance as a society, and there is no bigger exception than the Industrial Revolution. In my opinion, society would not be able to reach its current achievements without the hard struggles most had to suffer. These struggles led to the great innovations, and economical growth of America, but not everything was a struggle. Inventions arose from this era of machinery which rapidly increased efficiency. From the ashes of struggles were born the phoenix of innovation. Ponder at the idea of not having many of things present in life such as education, the same goes for the outcomes for the industrial revolution. The amendments from that time period could be considered as examples, such as Amendment 16, ratified on 1913, states, The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration. This was a huge deal for the income gap because this meant that the money used to pay for the products that made the wealthy class abundant with money is going back society. But more specifically than society is the working class the ones who paid for those products. This greatly enclosed the income gap, so more cooperation between classes created equality, and that is a huge positive outcome. Another innovation was the 19th Amendment,

ratified on 1920, states, The right of the citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. This proves that society is maturing and comprehending that after long and hard struggles of women proving themselves in factories, that women are equal to men. This created a stronger bond between genders and as humans as a whole. The final innovation that really hit a strong point was the Coal Strike of 1902, which was supported by Theodore Roosevelt, created more concern for the working class. At the time coal was the best fuel resource to power up many of the machines for the industrial revolution, so with no coal there is no productivity and without coal miners there is no coal. In the end it was common sense that the working class was the only way industrialization could happen, so to keep the working class happy and productive it was necessary to change wages and working conditions for the better. Without the Industrial Revolution there would be no reason for these innovations to exist, so the negatives led to positives. When Industrialization struck America, there was a huge boom of profit for society. The profit was created from intellectual designs for productivity, such as location, specializing, and monopolizing. To be highly efficient factories needed to be placed near raw resources to not waste time and money. This means that if a factory made only wagons, they would establish the factory near rubber trees for the rubber tires, and near steel factories so production would be quick and resourceful. The placement saved a lot of money for factory owners. Another economic strategy was factory specialty, if all the factories in the world produced the same thing, competition would be dangerously high, and products would be sold at retail price. There would be

no profit, so by specializing in individual products competition loosened and profit was good. Profit is the only way a capitalist economy would know that the system is working. Another way of intellectual economic growth was monopolizing entire industries it is true that the owner might abuse the price of the product, but to what extent would they realize that no one would buy that product for that price. There is just not enough demand, so by monopolizing owners would take on the responsibility of balancing out the supply and demand. Meaning, they would try to go as close to the brink of demand and sell his product for as much money as possible, drastically increasing profit. Do not forget that since the 16th Amendment was created all that profit would eventually return to society, so these economic growths were a huge plus. Not everything was a negative factor of the Industrial Revolution because in each era there are inventions to greatly develop society for better production. These inventions were the Transcontinental Railroad, the Telephone, and the Bessemer Process. The Transcontinental Railroad, which was completed on 1869, this was built to, link the United States from east to west. This allowed for quicker transportation of goods and people, usually in bulk. Now the United Stated would be able to communicate throughout its entire land with more ease. Just like in a relationship, communication is the key, especially in society. From on civilians would be able to express their backgrounds, cultures, race, religion, for common interests would build a higher tolerance in the States. Another example of helping communication is the Telephone created in 1876 by Alexander Graham, which allowed for people to easier access for expression, expressions that would also lead to tolerance and trust building. The last invention that will be mentioned that helped greatly in the Industrial Revolution was the Bessemer Process, for it sped up production of factory building because it

made iron into steel, a more flexible and durable metal. With more factories build, there are more jobs, profit, and development, so you could argue that the Bessemer Process was the foundation for production. In conclusion, the Industrial Revolution was definitely more a gain than a loss, for it matured society with its innovations, economic boom, and inventions. Each gain with its own unique involvement that created profit, equality, and tolerance for each other; even though, they might have a negative foundation for its production, no one would change the past in order for these gains to not exist. These gains are sufficient enough to be born from these struggles.
