GoTeachers aims to address the needs of Caribbean teachers by allowing teachers to link with others to share ideas, show creativity, and shine. GoTeachers also aims to reach out to the business community to allow teachers to understand the real needs of society, as they prepare students for the world of work. GoTeachers believes that in giving the teacher a helping hand, we are giving the students a better chance to succeed.

In Focus - Classroom Management Questions Not only should new teachers discuss classroom management with their supervisors, but experienced teachers should also reexamine the way they manage their classrooms. Below are fifteen discussion questions to help you focus your thoughts: 1. How do you use your time? Is it effectively and efficiently used? 2. What percentage of class time is spent "on task"? Define on-task? 3. What does it mean for a teacher to be prepared every day? How do you define a "prepared teacher" from a student's point of view? 4. In your classroom, what can your students routinely and predictably expect of you and your teaching? 5. What does it mean to present clear and objective-based assignments? 6. What methods do you use to bring a class to attention? Is your classroom clearly organized? 7. Are your expectations of students stated clearly and up front in a classroom policy or handbook? Do students understand your criteria for positive student involvement and achievement? 8. How do you deal with the problems of Late Arrival and Disruptive Students? 9. Are your assignments sequential and organized? Are the details of your assignments clearly structured? Are the criteria for each assignment stated before students begin? 10. Do the students understand how you will assess their work? Do you present assessment criteria before students begin an assignment? 11. Is your teaching predictable? 12. Is your teaching environment warm and inviting? 13. How do you engage students? How do you keep them on task? 14. Is there a high level of respect in your classroom? 15. Are your assignments meaningful, focused, and fit into a larger sequence of learning? What other question(s) would you add as we focus our thoughts on better management of our classes? Below are tips on how to get started and how to you can be successful in GoTeachers Marketplace: 1. Create instructional materials that Jamaican (and other Caribbean) teachers need 2. Product Titles are very important, as such you should use titles that teachers would use to search for such a product 3. Provide very thorough Product Descriptions. This is what users will use to determine if your product is what they want 4. All first products must be FREE - Make it an excellent product. Teachers will use it to judge the general quality of your work. This can make or break your ratings in the community. 5. Create an attractive and colorful cover page for your product Presentation is critical 6. Before posting to GoTeachers, create a shorter version of your full product as a preview file (for example, you could include only some of the pages or slides from the full product in a preview file). You will attach this preview file when you post your product in the Advertise A Product Form and the preview file will then be made available to potential buyers for free 7. Answer any query about your product, promptly. 8. Quality is the most important criteria. Endeavour to create effective products and provide exceptional service. Nonetheless, the more you post quality products, the more you can earn. 9. Develop a strong profile and include a picture of yourself 10. Participate in the discussion forums, chat room, blog, etc. This will help community members to develop confidence in you 11. Spread the word about GoTeachers - the more teachers know about us, the greater your sales will be in the long run 12. Develop relationships, marketing and networking opportunities and get answers to any question you may have through the Marketplace Forum where sellers go to provide help. It's also where you can get great ideas for improving GoTeachers community. 13. Read the GoTeachers Newsletter The Team to remain focus on our goals and objectives as well as upcoming events.
