Decision Tree

Decision Tree is a decision-making support tool, which helps organizations or individuals to take decision any point of time. Its graph-based tool that uses a tree model of decision in pictorial or graphical format including their possible consequences with the chance event outcomes, resource cost and utility. Its a graphical way to show an algorithm. Decision tree are mostly used for the Operations research especially for decision analysis that help to identify the strategy, which helps the organization or individual to achieve the goal easily, and in the best way. If in practice decisions have to be taken online with no recall under incomplete knowledge, a probability model as a best choice model or online selection model algorithm should parallel a decision tree. Another use of decision trees is as a descriptive means for calculating conditional probabilities. While doing the decision analysis decision-tree and the its graphical diagram also called influence diagram is used as a visual and analytic decision support tool, where the expected values or expected utility of completing alternatives are calculated to take the correct decision. Lets see a decision tree sample to understand it more better and easily, which will tell us how it help us to make correct decision.

So, we design a decision from left to right like we use to read most of the languages to keep up with the flow. As we all can see the data which this decision tree have is working on the basis of What-If condition means when we take this kind of decision at this time so what are the outcome of it and which are the most beneficiary we take those part only and on the basis of it we take the decision. A decision tree consist of three types of nodes: Decision nodes: represented by square Chance Nodes: represented by circle End Nodes: represented by triangle

A decision tree composes of directions with nodes on which data and conditions are performed to make the decision, which gives you the most appropriate result according to your requirement. Therefore, used manually, they can grow very big and are then often hard to draw fully by hand. Traditionally, decision trees have been created manually as the aside example shows - although increasingly, specialized software is employed. Commonly a decision tree is drawn using flow chart symbols, as it is easier for many to read and understand. Why do we need to use decision trees? Are easy or simple to understand and interpret Have value even with little hard data Use a white-box model Can be combined with other decision making techniques
