Statement of Purpose My interest in applied science dates back to my school days.

During high school, I was fascinated with electronic gadgets. Soon thereafter, designing and building basic circuits started as a hobby. Along the way, however, I realized that the problem-solving aspect of making electronic gadgets was what I enjoyed the most. During my high school days I was fascinated by C++ programming language. Engineering was a natural career choice after this. Computer Science Engineering was the branch I choose to start my career. I am in the 6th semester of the degree course and I took several courses related to Object-Oriented programming as well as courses related to Information Technology such as Database Management and Design, System programming, Computer Graphics and Data Structure and Algorithms. The syllabi of my university are such that it exposes me to almost all of the computer related technology and modules, of which one can choose its specialization field in future. Every computer engineer has some of its specialization fields; Software Engineering is the branch on which I would like to concentrate. To start my dream, I took two months of internship/training after the 4th semester in Microsoft .NET Framework focussing basically on Windows Fundamentals. Using C# as the main back end language with SQl Server 2008 as the main database, I developed several windows software applications ranging from web browsers to Mp3 players. At the end of the two months I build a School Database Management System with main role of managing the large amount of data of a school in a systematic manner, with C# as the main backend application as my main training project which also would have to be submitted to the college. To review its performance I deployed this application in two live schools where teachers themselves used the application and managed the school data through the software application instead of using excel sheets. This software is still being used actively in these schools. To test my knowledge of Windows applications development I took the globally and industry recognized Microsoft Technology Associate Exam: Windows Development Fundamentals (98362) and cleared the Exam on September, 17, 2011(Microsoft Certification ID: 8573104) ; eventually joining the league of Microsoft Certified Professionals. I am applying to this internship as I would like to more deeply explorer the best practices of software engineering and methods used in this field. Having performed and worked on some software applications in the past 8 months, I would like to learn profoundly the principles and tools to design, analyze, develop, test, deploy and maintain software applications. In reality, I would like to focus my career on consulting, designing and developing high-level software applications by using the best practices of software engineering. Im also interested in learning the best strategies and frameworks that are used to quickly and efficiently build and maintain software application. As I would have the privilege to work with the renowned professors and academicians during this research internship It would certainly be a dream come true for me. Coming from a middle income Indian family, selection in this research internship can really be the platform for the up lift of my career and thoughts. I have been diligent and perseverant during my career, and I have a huge aptitude and an enthusiastic desire to learn all I can. I hope that my background and qualifications are found suitable for this very internship.
