General information A compulsory form


The form called Documents submitted in support of the Application for Selection Certificate (A-1520-AA) is available in PDF format only. This form is an essential part of your application. Only you, as principal applicant, must complete this form, even if your spouse or a dependent person aged 22 years or older is accompanying you. This form helps ensure that you have: completed all the forms necessary for the examination of your application for selection certificate; enclosed all requested documents in the required format (original, certified true copy, etc.) with your application.

How to use it
Check the box referring to each document that you are submitting. The entry NA (Not Applicable) means that you do not need to submit the document. For your convenience, follow these steps: 1. Gather all the documents in support of your application. 2. Fill out the form. 3. Place all your documents and supporting items in the order followed in the form. 4. Insert in an envelope: your form Documents submitted in support of the Application for Selection Certificate (A-1520-AA); your Application for Selection Certificate (A-0520-AA); your Contract respecting financial self-sufficiency (A-0522-OA); your payment; the other forms and declarations, as applicable; all your documents and supporting items.

Remember
Wait until you have all the required documents before sending your application. If you fail to submit one or more required documents, we may return your application, delaying the processing of your file. If you submit documents in a language other than French or English, you must provide a certified translation along with the document in its original language in the required format. You must submit the certified translation of documents even if only part of the information is in a language other than French or English. Make sure to keep a photocopy of all the documents that you submit.

Processing your application


The selection criteria, requirements and requested information are subject to change. Therefore, make sure that you use up-to-date forms in preparing your application. They are available on our website at www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/forms/index.html. Your application for a selection certificate will be processed based on regulations in effect when it was submitted.

Some definitions
Spouses
Two persons of the same or opposite sex who are married or in a de facto union. Your spouse is the person who fits the definition of a married or de facto spouse given in the Application for Selection Certificate.

Certified true copy


Copy of a document certified as true to the original by the issuing institution or government authorities responsible for issuing the original document. E.g.: Transcript obtained from the registrar of the institution that granted your diploma. If it is impossible to obtain a certified true copy of the original, you may submit a copy of the original document that you present to the issuing institution or document author to have certified. The authorized person must write in block letters on the copy: The declaration: I certify that this is a true copy of the original document. Name of the original document Date of the certification Position or title of the authorized person His or her name

The authorized person must sign the copy and affix the seal of the institution, if any.

Sworn or notarized copy


Copy of an original document that is certified by an authorized person. E.g.: Copy of a marriage certificate certified by a commissioner authorized to administer oaths. If the person who certifies the copy is a notary, it is called a notarized copy. After comparing the copy with the original document, the authorized person must write in block letters on the copy: The declaration: I certify that the copy of this document conforms to the original. Name of the original document Position or title of the authorized person His or her name

The authorized person must then sign and date the copy and affix his or her seal.

Persons authorized to provide a sworn copy or notarized copy


In Qubec: Commissioner for oaths, notary or justice of the peace. Abroad: Judge, magistrate, notary, officer of the court, commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country of residence.

Certified translation
Translation of a document by a certified translator, including: The translation of all text, seals and signatures on the original document The seal of the certified translator. If you present a written document in a language other than French or English, you must submit, along with the certified translation, the original document, a certified true copy or a sworn copy, depending on what is indicated on the form.

Certified translator
A member of a professional order or society of translators. To find a translator for your documents in Qubec, consult the membership directory of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprtes agrs du Qubec at www.ottiaq.org. Translations done by a translator who is a family member are not accepted.

If there has been more than one marriage, provide all prior documents concerning you and your spouse. If you and your spouse are applying as de facto spouses, you must prove that you have lived together for at least one year when your application is submitted. You must provide documents dated from one year ago or earlier, along with recent documents.

Certificate of marriage, divorce or marriage annulment

At least two items proving de facto spouse status on which both spouses names appear. Documents eligible as proof are: Shared financial commitment (mortgage, lease, joint bank accounts) Common bills (electricity, gas, telephone or Internet service) Official cohabitation certificate, where applicable

Residency status in a country other than the country of citizenship If this section does not apply to your situation, go to the next section. You may submit your application for a selection certificate to the Qubec immigration office that covers the country where you are living if, on the date of submitting your application, you meet the following conditions: You were legally admitted into that country for at least one year for a temporary work or study stay. Your studies or your work constitute your principal activity in that country. You are living there legally.
You must also provide the stay document of your spouse, if applicable.

Submit this document if you or your spouse practices a profession for which a mutual recognition agreement was signed between France and Qubec. Provide one of these documents if you or your spouse practices a regulated trade for which a mutual recognition agreement was signed between France and Qubec.

Internship certificates or attestations issued by companies or educational institutions Each document must contain the following elements: Exact start and end dates of the internship Principal tasks and duties Number of hours worked per week Signature of immediate supervisor or company personnel representative along with his name written in block letters Date of the signature AND Internship agreements or attestations from the educational institution stating that the work internships were performed in the context of studies

The internship agreements or attestations from the educational institution must be written on letterhead paper of the institution bearing its official seal and full address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address.

Evaluation of language skills in French If this section does not apply to your situation, go to the next section. Points for language proficiency in French are granted solely on the basis of results confirmed on your attestations of results and recognized diplomas.
The results that you provide in support of your application must be less than two years old. If you are not submitting test results, you must so indicate by checking the box provided for this purpose in your Application for Selection Certificate form. If you choose the TCF or the TEF, you must provide the results of the compulsory tests and the optional tests so as to present results for oral comprehension and oral expression.

PAYMENT OF FEES
The processing of your application will not start until we receive payment of the required fees. If the payment is missing or insufficient, we will return your application. You must pay in Canadian currency. Cash and personal cheques are not accepted. For information on fees charged and acceptable payment methods, consult our website at www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/informations/fees.
You cannot pay by credit card if you submit your application to the Qubec immigration office in Hong Kong.
