Therapeutic Foam Mattresses

Now the leader in therapeutic foam introduces the industrys first comprehensive mattress program
Helping you provide better care
The rules concerning bed systems (including mattresses) are quickly becoming a risk management and regulatory challenge. Yet, patient care is still your number one priority. Thats why Bio Clinic makes your clinical decisions on mattresses so very simple. We offer you five distinct mattress products designed to meet almost all your care needs...plus the flexibility to customize the size, cover and style of each model to accommodate specific care, risk management and regulatory concerns.

Imprint

Meeting the challenge of entrapment

Will your facility be ready?
Scheduled to be announced by the end of 2002, new FDA guidelines will address the dangers of medical bed entrapment identifying the most serious entrapment zones common to medical beds and setting clear pass/fail standards.

Helping you address regulatory issues

Entrapment: With over 95% of all entrapment events occurring at the interface of the rail and the mattress, the pending entrapment regulations are causing us to re-evaluate all of our beds and mattresses. The Bio Clinic Mattress program helps you to size your mattress properly. If compressing the edge of the mattress is a problem, we have our sidewall and perimeter products to assist you.

The ultimate therapeutic foam mattress, Imprint is made with ultra-soft Visco Elastic foam that envelops and supports the body equalizing the pressures over the entire surface.
Slow-recovery Visco Elastic foam is the best foam for pressure management mattresses because it envelops you without the compressed foam creating more pressure as it tries to rebound to its original shape.

Not just the bed

Facilities undertaking retrofit modifications to bring their equipment into compliance are finding that the Bio Clinic Mattress program offers solutions to many of their entrapment challenges simply by replacing the mattress.

I have enough to worry about without risk management and regulatory headaches. The Bio Clinic Mattress program made our mattress decision easy.

Compliant right from the box

The ultra-soft Imprint envelops the body with a very soft, yet extremely dense multi-layered Visco Elastic foam.

Helping you make a better investment

Mattress Integrity: Sure your mattresses look great today, but what kind of shape will they be in a couple years from now? We guarantee our products integrity! We use the best materials guaranteed. We have the best construction guaranteed. Most of our warranties do not have a prorating clause! No disintegration clause! If the mattress does not maintain 90% of the original therapeutic laying surface over the life of the warranty we will replace the product.

Combine any new Joerns bed, siderails and end panels with a Bio Clinic mattress and your compliance worries are over. Thats because the Joerns/Bio Clinic systems are designed and engineered with the entrapment guidelines in mind.*
*A member of the Hospital Bed Safety Work Group convened by the FDA to develop and propose entrapment guidelines to the regulator agency, Sunrise Medical has become an industry leader in entrapment compliance and assistance. Therapeutic Foam Mattresses

Advanced anatomical designs

Combining high-tech medical foam with advanced anatomical designs, Bio Clinic mattresses are created specifically for the challenges of resident and patient care providing comfort, durability and cost-effective management of abrasion, ulceration and other damage to the skin. The key is greater pressure reduction than can be achieved with single-use foam overlays and common innerspring mattresses.

BodyWrap

TurnStyle

Trufit Sizing

Using an ultra-high density, ultra-soft urethane foam that is combined with a perimeter or sidewall shell, the BodyWrap literally follows its name. By distributing pressures over more of the body and lowering the average pressure, the BodyWrap is an excellent prevention tool.

Provide an effective therapeutic surface, extend your budget and prolong your mattress life with the reversible TurnStyle mattress. With its soft, gentle floatation and superior envelopment of bony prominences, TurnStyle not only provides excellent protection for preventing pressure sores, it can also help with treatment of reddened skin and/or edema.

If it seems your new mattresses dont quite fit your beds, youre right. Over the years manufacturers have quietly shaved a little off the dimensions. As a result, most mattresses marketed as standard 36" x 6" x 80" are as much as two inches smaller in width and length. With a standard, Trufit or oversize mattress you are able to eliminate the majority of gaps that plague many bed systems.

Wound care program

Used as part of a comprehensive wound management program, Bio Clinic mattresses provide a range of pressure reduction options to meet the needs of individual residents and patients whose proclivity to pressure sores may vary by skin characteristics and body shape (bony prominences), mobility, incontinence and nutrition.
BodyWraps perimeter style makes it convenient for caregivers to meet varying care needs simply by changing inserts. Unique waffle-cut Omalux surface eliminates hard spots that occur when the peaks of conventional contoured foam mattresses fold over.

Match mattress to patient

Where some mattresses are best suited for prevention, others may help with treatment as well. To match a mattresss pressure reduction function with the needs of individual residents and patients, compare standardized Interface test results. Lower values (mm/hg) indicate less pressure greater pressure reduction.

The highly effective diamond cuts in the heel section are anatomically designed to reduce the surface tension helping to reduce the pressure points on the heel.

The standard mattress comes in the traditional 35" x 80" size. The Trufit is 36" x 80 ", better filling the gap between the inside of the rails and the mattress. The oversize is 36 " x 82". The additional 1 " of length closes the gaps between the mattress and the head and foot panels. All three are also available for 76" and 84" beds.

Bariatric mattresses
Bio Clinic Bariatric mattresses are available for the specific needs of the heavier individual. Engineered for patient comfort and lasting durability, these mattresses are designed with ultra high-density foam fabricated in layers so that they will maintain their integrity while providing a clinically effective support surface. Bio Clinic Bariatric mattresses are available in a variety of sizes to meet your requirements.

Bio Clinic mattresses Flat are available in three constructionstyles: flat, sidewall and perimeter. While a flat design is right for most applications, there are some applications that may require a sidewall or perimeter construction.

Covers

Bio Clinic mattresses come with an air-bag quality 210 denier nylon cover or an optional Transverse Stretch cover. Each offers distinct advantages.

An outstanding everyday mattress, the Bio Core AHP features our patented Omalux foam, within a triple-layered construction, to maximize the effectiveness of the mattress at the lowest possible cost to you.

The DermaTech mattress is constructed of a single-ply high-density foam that combines Bio Clinic quality with economical value.
The anatomical zone design of DermaTech provides appropriate support reducing problems of unequal weight distribution. Unique stepped contour surface cuts in the leg and heel sections improve floatation and pressure reduction on the ankle and heel areas.

Moisture, over time, will damage mattress foam. Thats why you need covers that will not only support good wound care, but will prevent moisture from leaking through to the foam. Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (MVT) is the rate with which moisture passes through a material. Our 210 denier nylon cover has a significantly lower MVT rate than competitive products. This assures the longest mattress life. As a matter of fact, almost 10 times more protection than 70 denier material.

In the case of the Sidewall mattress surface being low relative to the bottom of the siderail (Entrapment Zone 7), the added height of the mattress sidewall will help close the gap. The sidewall also offers added security for the patient when siderails are not appropriate.

Bio Core AHP features superior weight distribution in that section of the mattress that supports most of the body weight the head and torso. Diamond cuts similar to those in the Bio Core AHP, help reduce the surface tension and promote envelopment.

Transverse Stretch
Diamond cuts similar to those in the BodyWrap, help reduce the surface tension and promote envelopment.

Perimeter
The perimeter design consists of an outer rim and a removable interior insert.

Perimeter with

Perimeter may be a good choice for beds that otherwise would fail compliance tests for Entrapment Zone 1. The firmer perimeter resists compression yet the center section provides the patient with therapeutic support. This style also allows you to respond to changing care needs by simply changing the insert.

TRANSVERSE STRETCH COVER

The super-soft Transverse Stretch cover provides greater stretch and conformability as the mattress compresses for those who are at greater risk of skin abrasions. Under the cover lies a moisture barrier sleeve which provides added moisture resistance. The Transverse Stretch cover is an excellent choice where wound management is a challenge and moisture is less of a concern.
