MEDICINE
Microorganisms can be useful to us because they help us digest our food in our bodies. Bad ones make us sick. Bad or good we can't live without them. Did you know that they help make bread, wine, cheese, and milk? Scientists are working on making nanotechnology with the shells of diatoms. They help prevent overpopulation. If people and other organisms didn't die from disease, we would be left with weak organisms because nothing would be there to kill them.

Some type of microorganism produce important drugs called ANTIBIOTICS, Function of antibiotics: - Weaken - Destroy other microorganism

Penicillium notatum is a green mould Its produce antibiotic called Penicillin

They can kill of other bad microorganisms!(vaccinations)

Disease
Malaria Cholera

Pathogen Plasmodium SP Vibrio Cholera

Method Of Transmission Vector, Anopheles SP, Mosquito Consuming contaminated food and water HEP A:Occur when consume contaminated food and water HEP B:Transmitted by contaminated blood and sexual intercourse

Sympton High fever, severe shivering and sweating Diarrhoea, vomiting and dehydration Vomitting, diarrhoea, fever, stomach cramp. Nausea, abdominal pain, cancer of the liver Reddish circular rashes, lesion and very itchy.

Hepatitis

Viruses

A vaccine is a biological preparation that improves immunity to a particular disease. A vaccine typically contains an agent that resembles a disease-causing microorganism, and is often made from weakened or killed forms of the microbe. The agent stimulates the body's immune system to recognize the agent as foreign, destroy it, and "remember" it, so that the immune system can more easily recognize and destroy any of these microorganisms that it later encounter .

Ringworm

Fungi

Direct contact with infected person

HO DI W SP SEAS THE RE ES AD ?

Food and Water (Eg: Cholera, Hepatitis)

Vaccines -Dead or weakened bacteria or viruses is inoculated into body to induce antibodies Antibiotics -Penicillin and streptomycin are produced by microorganisms which inhibit the growth or kill other microorganisms Antiseptics -used on cuts and wounds to kill and inhibit growth of microorganisms Disinfectants -Solution used to sterilize surgical equipment, kill microorganisms on the floor

-Microorganism enter digestive system through it Direct Contact (Eg: Ringworm, AIDs)

-Infected person by sharing personal item Vectors

-Malaria is caused by Plasmodium sp. transmit by mosquitoes anopheles.(houseflies can also cause food poisoning)

Airborne and Droplet Transmission (Eg: Flu, viral fever)

-Method where pathogens change into spores then transmit by air

pathogens controlling Method of
