Below are some of the points which are added/ enhanced in MGw R5.

Capacity and Features: * The M-MGw R5 software is supported with base configurations of GMP V2.0, GMP V2.1 and GMP V3.0. * New Base Configuration 3028 has been introduced to reach 30 000 Erlang capacity. * MSS R5 supports SIP protocol, can interworking with IMS and TSS.. * MSC Server R13 integrates DNS function * MSS R5 compatible with CAMEL PH4 * MGw R5 could support ETSI&ANSI or ETSI&TTC in the same nodeMGw can be used as international gateway) * New optional feature VoIP Gateway has been introduced. The VoIP Gateway feature offers inter-working towards 3GPP IMS networks as well as IP based wireline networks and other PLMNs. Note: In M-MGw R5.0 VoIP Gateway feature is available only for demos and trials. GCP support for Mn interface added due to the new VoIP Gateway feature * New optional feature GCP Transport over SCTP has been introduced. Feature offers an alternative to omit the M3UA layer entirely, and transport GCP messages directly over SCTP. * The optional feature Primary Rate Access has been enhanced. Feature enables operators to connect PABXs directly to the MSS without external converters. The DSS1 signaling between the M-MGW and the MSC Server (MSC-S) can be transported over IP. * The M-MGw Element Manager product has been phased out and replaced with a new Graphical User Interface (GUI) implemented by the M-MGw Node Manager product. * Node Command Line Interface (NCLI) optional feature has been enhanced. MOM awareness is introduced enabling a simpler command syntax, enhanced command completion and improved online help.< /span> * Interactive messaging capacity has been increased from 2000 to 3000 simultaneous announcements Hardware: * ET-MFG board (used in IP Transport feature) supports IP termination without need of MSBs (New MO: IpAccessHostEt). After the upgrade the becoming free MSB are recommended to be removed from the node and replaced by dummy boards. The removed boards can be used as spare parts. * The RTP, UDP and IP termination for the payload has been moved from the MSB boards to the ET-MFG.In ET-MFG the prioritization of traffic on egress direction based queue system has been introduced. The packet queuing is based on the DSCP value for each IP packet. * M-MGw R5 new nodes are delivered with new ET-C41/2 boards which enables the optional TDM-based HSL feature. If the M-MGw R4.2 software is upgraded to M-MGw R5 level and TDM-based HSL feature is needed, the existing ET-C41 boards must be replaced with new ET-C41/2 boards.
