Dear Parents/Carers Great effort springs naturally from great attitude. Pat Riley.
What a great attitude our school family has and that is so evident from all the effort that has been put in over this first long-term, but in particular the last few weeks. Thank you to Little Faringdon for their donation following their efforts in putting on the Firework display. Thank you to the SCPAs effort in putting on the Christmas Fayre; what an amazing event! The children have shown a great attitude in their learning and I have been left speechless following our recent musical celebration assemblies and todays lower school Born in the Barn production. I just know that tonights Carol Service will be such a special occasion. A massive thank you to all the staff and parent helpers for their tireless work! So that just leaves one big thank you and that is to you parents for all the support you have provided both your children and the school. I wish you all a joyous and restful Christmas and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

It was great to see so many families and friends at the Christmas Fayre. This event has raised a whopping total of 1036.67 for the school and would not have been possible without the many volunteers before and on the day. We had a great time and look forward to seeing you at the next event! SCPA.
If your family eats Nestle cereals, please remember to tear off the token on the top of the box and bring it in to school. It takes as little as 10 tokens to get one book so the more tokens we collect the more books we can receive for school thank you

Help us keep the spread of germs in school to a minimum by following this advice from the NHS.

CATCH IT germs spread easily. Always carry

tissues and use them to catch your cough or sneeze.

BIN IT germs can live for several hours on tissues.

KILL IT hands can transfer germs to every surface

you touch. Clean your hands as soon as you can.

PLEASE NOTE that if your child has unfortunately

had sickness and/or diarrhoea the recommended period by the Health Protection Agency & the School Nurse, for children to be kept away from school is 48 hours from the last episode of diarrhoea and/or vomiting.

News from Ginkgo Class

We have all settled in to the class well and the children are such an enthusiastic group that it has been a delight to be teaching them. Our topic has involved lots of work on the Romans and we have learnt about the invasion and settlements, their way of life and the Roman legacy. I think that one of the highlights of this topic has to be the delightful Roman mosaic tiles that we made, which took a great deal of care and precision to produce.

The topic culminated in producing our own Roman newspaper. This involved research into a subject of their own choice to write an article suitable for the Roman period. The articles were written appropriate for the style of a newspaper report with a snappy headline and a quotation from an eye witness. Boudicca seemed to capture the imagination of a number of the children and there were several good reports about her. Other articles included chariot races, gladiators and Roman schools. Here is a taste of the Roman News:

I think that some teachers thought that I was a bit crazy when I decided to teach the whole class how to make huge 3D snowflakes. However, they didnt let me down and they all persevered and some even decided to make miniature versions. Merry Christmas,
