Money Matter$ in Ministry

We need to be smart in how we manage Gods money. In Jesus parable of the unjust steward, He commended the unjust steward for being shrewd in how he managed his available resources (Luke 16:8). Here are two smart things you can do with Gods money. 1) Check the interest rate on your churchs mortgage. If it is above 5% you should check into renewing your mortgage to a lower rate. 2) Check what rate your bank is paying you for any money you have in savings. Then check with AG Financial Services. I am sure they can pay you a significantly higher rate on money you invest with them in a 30 Day Demand Savings Account, or one of their other investment plans. The AG Financial Representative for Kentucky is Phil Pierce. You can contact him at 866-720-1225 or PPierce@agfinancial.org. When it comes to Money Matter$ in Ministry, God expects us to be smart with His money.

the blessings for ourselves that we have forgotten what it means for a soul to be lost. End of the story.. or is it? Have we as congregations, become more blind than the ones seeking the doors; all wrapped up in our worship and prayer needs that we neglect to see the multitudes of blind and lost souls? We need sentries at the doors reaching out to the blind and lost. We need worshipers at the altar to bring down the power of Gods Holy Spirit to not only bless, heal and empower, but convict unsaved souls in the pews. Our sole purpose, if Im not mistaken, is to win the lost, disciple and to send. Why are we not seeing more souls saved? Could it be that our services are geared for us and not for the ones we are seeking to save? Are our services, sinner sensitive? Have we forgotten what its like to walk into a church where you know few if any, with no idea as to what is going on or why? Have we forgotten how it feels to be convicted and not know what to do about it? Praise and Worship should be all about HIM but have we allowed it to become more about US with little or no thought about THEM! There is nothing more exciting than to see people find the joy of salvation in our services or one to one outside the box. May the Lord give you souls. Love ya, JP<>< The Back Porch is a wonderful place to just sit and share things like, coffee, sweet tea, monkey bread, ice cream, fellowship, stories, naps and occasionally some personal, serious thoughts. This is one. Once upon a time a pastor had a dream. He was the pastor of the Church-inthe-Round. The newest and biggest church in town. The doors were built into the cut and style of the building but clearly marked, Entrance, Everyone Welcome. The altar was the center piece of the church. It was always filled with the church folks seeking, praying, looking for God to pour out blessings beyond measure. He was and is and will. The services were electrifying and fresh, the preaching, powerful. Christians came from miles around just to be a part of what was going on. Wonderful things were taking place. For Christians. The Pastor assigned keepers to watch the doors to welcome people as they came in. Trouble was, so many wonderful things were happening around the altars the keepers would leave the doors to get as close to the altar as they could and periodically look back to see if anyone was coming but their hearts were down at the altar where all the good stuff was happening. The pastor noticed that many came to the door but didnt come in. They kept groping for the entrance. What was wrong? Couldnt they see the doors in plain sight? On a closer look he saw they were blind. The pastor awoke with tears flooding his eyes. He cried, God have mercy on our souls. We long so much for

Church 922 and Church Planting

Our Saturday night service (Church 922) at Christs Chapel is designed to reach a specific demographic post high-school kids that are either un-churched or those raised in church but for various reasons abandoned traditional church in their 20s. The five years weve had this service has taught me many things. A few of those lessons are directly related to church planting. Lesson Number One God loves this generation. I realize its impossible for God to love one generation more than another but being in service with this younger generation has shown me that their brokenness and reckless search for purpose translates into passionate worship and a God that responds with equal enthusiasm. Im convinced that in the process, God is raising up church planters from within this group and also from among our Assembly of God community with a desire to reach a generation of genuine searchers/worshippers.
4

Lesson Number Two This younger generation demands a gospel that is real and market tested. In other words, they care deeply about compassion ministries like caring for the less fortunate. They also expect you to listen to them without judgment as they navigate their individual faith. That being said, they quickly respond to a gospel preached without compromise and worship that is bold and anointed. The harvest within this demographic has never been larger or more responsive, offering a tremendous opportunity for church planting. Lesson Number Three This generation will commit to serving Jesus Christ with total commitment. Weve witnessed it many times. I believe there are those currently in their 20s that are willing to commit the next three decades of their life to reach this somewhat jaded but equally amazing generation. They deserve to be introduced to and challenged by the Savior of the world and church planting is one of the best ways to accomplish this goal.

Pastors, Fathers Day is June 15th. Make it a signicant day for the men of your church.
This year, consider giving your men the NaAonal HonorBound Magazine for Fathers Day. The magazines are available through GPH, 1-800-641-4310. The item number is #728-164, the price is $1.00/copy. The magazine: All About Dad For Men Each Atle contains unique content designed to enrich the lives of men and strengthen families. Our HonorBound Theme this year, for Fathers Day is (Tune Up) Tuning up your Spiritual Life. Its Ame for our men to return to a daily closet of prayer. Prayer is our lifeline to God. It is our families lifeline as well.

My prayer is for the Holy Spirit to put a desire in the hearts of our men in the Kentucky District to pray and intercede for their wives, children, and grandchildren. I want our men to know that they need to be the primary intercessor for their families. The role of the loving, involved father is cri4cally important in the home, and it has never been more so than among todays disconnected genera4on. Josh McDowell Pastor, I believe this Fathers Day can be a weekend that you can challenge your men to allow the Holy Spirit to work in their lives as Husbands-Fathers-Grandfathers and as Men of God.

God Bless you and Happy Fathers Day to all the Great Men of Our District!

Shawn was a good kid, he grew up in church, was involved in youth group, he took numerous missions trips BUT it happened. His father died unexpectedly. Out of anger and pain Shawn started using drugs and things got out of control. He was arrested for stealing a considerable amount of money from his mother and was ordered to complete Teen Challenge. Shawn came to Chads Hope in the fall of 2009 and graduated in February 2011. Upon graduaIon, his church hired him as a custodian and shortly thereaJer, he also became the owner of a mowing company. Shawn will be married on June 16 to a wonderful ChrisIan lady named Kayla. Recently he applied for a job with a large regional corporaIon, but didnt get the job due to his prior arrest. A few hours later the company called him back and oered Shawn a supervisory posiIon that is actually a beRer, higher paying job! Shawn is a life that has been changed!
Thank-you for praying for and financially supporting Chads Hope Teen Challenge!

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR KENTUCKY MISSIONARIES

It is my pleasure to introduce Kent and Paige Parrish with their daughter, Chloe, who were recently approved by the World Missions Board as appointed missionaries to the Philippines.

After serving three and a half years with the Filipino people, Kent and Paige are determined to pursue a lifelong commitment in missions. During the upcoming term they will invest in the lives of leaders from more than 20 nations at the Asia Pacific Theological Seminary in Baguio, Philippines. They also plan to continue assisting in church planting, ministering to the poor and hungry, and bringing the hope of Jesus Christ to street children and struggling families. Prior to leaving in June, 2008, to study and work as missionaries in the Philippines, Kent served as youth pastor in Lebanon, Kentucky, and later as associate pastor at Faith Worship Center in Bardstown, Kentucky. Pastors, call them today and schedule a service. Lets welcome them to the Kentucky Missionary Family! A DEBT OF GRATITUDE

In 1962 our adventure began. A partnership was formed between the churches of Kentucky and their first appointed A/G World Missionaries, Paul and Betty Brannan. During the following years, living in seven different countries, we were involved in Bible School, pastors workshops, crusade ministry and new church planting. Every pastor that was mentored, the thousands who responded to the call to accept Christ and every church that was formed, were all made possible only because of the faithful and prayerful support of the pastors and congregations in this great Kentucky fellowship.

Merci

with the Missions Awareness Team, writing materials and assisting churches to better develop their world outreach. Currently, we are writing a series of missions training materials in both English and Spanish for the World A/G Fellowship. Without your many expressions of kindness, none of this would have happened. Betty and I owe each of you a great debt of gratitude for your prayers, your financial support and for your friendship for so many years. It is now our privilege to serve the Kentucky Ministry Network as Missions Director. It will be an honor to serve our pastors and congregations, Pastor Joe and our missionaries. Together, let us pray, plan and pursue the fulfillment of Christs command to Go into all the world

Recently, I had the privilege to travel to Montana and work with Provision International. Provision is a missions organization designed to help the impoverished of the world by suppling medical equipment, food, and clothing. Our keynote speaker was former President Bush. He did a great job speaking and it was a honor to meet him. It was a great experience and I learned a lot.

It doesn't take a lot of money to change an orphans life! The overwhelming need of the worlds 165 million orphans is great. There is much work to do. Those of us working to aid these kids keep our focus on the one that we have the power to help, rather than the large number. It does not cost a lot of money to change an orphans life. I have requests sitting on my desk from all over the world, totaling over $63,000.

We need flip flops. These can be purchased for as little as $1.00 per pair. Flip flops are an easy item to ship and are beneficial to those who have no shoes. It protects them from parasites. We need basic personal items and medical supplies. For a few dollars you can purchase band aids, toothpaste, bars of soap, etc. We need Christmas Shoe boxes. I know its only the beginning of summer, but we must have these in route overseas by Sept/Oct. You can collect small gift items, personal items, or school supplies. Whatever you can fit in a shoe box.

Overwhelming, yes, but not for long. Somehow when I write the check for $500 the feelings subside. This morning I did not have enough to fulfill these two projects: $250 for a feeding program in Romania and $250 for a feeding pro- We do request that all items are new and in good condition. gram in Bolivia. Evangelist Reports
Evangelists Don and Doris Carver report, We have just returned from our 7th mission trip to Honduras, March 6-20. It was a very successful trip, to God be the glory! In the Ime we were there, we had 18 services in dierent areas of San Pedro Sula. Here are some of the reportsThere were 75 decisions for Christ. In one church, Bethel Assembly of God, with Pastor Elias & Catlina Pias, there were more than 20 people healed. The Womens Ministry of this church took us to a drug and alcohol rehabilitaIon center. During this service, many were broken with tears of repentance and wanIng deliverance. The director of the Center, said they had never seen the men so broken and open to receive the Gospel. It was awesome how the presence of the Lord was in the service to set men free.

Chaplains Reports
Chaplain Robert Risner reports in his January thru March Quarterly Report that he saw 12 decisions for Christ and 6 Water Bap:sms.
