Phase 1: Life Savers & Roll Call on Field (EAA)


*Evacuate to Field *FIRE=Doors CLOSED EARTHQUAKE= Doors OPEN *Take backpacks and emergency supplies with you *Line up by class *Take Roll *Report missing students to staff with Disaster Coordinators ASAP *Thumbs up to Disaster Coordinators if all accounted for *Move line towards middle of field once roll complete *Provide all students with Emergency Tag *Students and staff should not re-enter buildings after accounted for

Phase 2:
*Have students gather in grade level clusters *EAA (Emergency Assembly Area) Grade Level Teachers in charge of student clusters remain with students and engage in appropriate activities *Teachers assigned to other teams, report to other duties as assigned

Phase 3:
*Teams report to duty: ~Command Central & Student Check out ~EAA ~Search & Rescue ~First Aid ~Crisis Team ~Campus Security & Safety *Staff is to remain with students or in role until all clear is given

Evacuation Procedures A-B-S What to do before you leave your class if students are injured:

Search & Rescue Sweep Assignments Team 1: Administration, K1, K2, Head Start, 21, 22, 19, 17, 18, 20 & Kinder Bathrooms Team 2: 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 23, 24 & Primary Bathrooms Team 3: 2, 4, Library, 29, 28, 27, 31, 30, 10(science), 12, 14, 16, 25, 26 & Upper Grade Bathrooms

Walkie Talkie: Channel 1- Niemes FUNCTION: Site Administrator

Channel 16- ABCUSD

Located at Command Central, near the Emergency Assembly Area (EAA) and the Student Check-out Area 1. Accounts for the presence of all. 2. Implements and coordinates the Emergency operations. 3. Controls internal and external communications. 4. Prepares reports for District Emergency Command Center.

FUNCTION: Disaster Coordinators (DC)


Located between classrooms and Emergency Assembly Area 1. Ensures that all routes are clear to the EAA 2. Assists in the evacuation of classes to their assigned areas. 3. Accounts for all staff. 4. Document thumbs up from classes all accounted for 5. Collect class data, names of students back in class to give list of missing persons to Search and Rescue Teams. 6. Monitor Search and Rescue and EAA. 7. Oversee food distribution. 8. Provide grade level EAA teachers with a walkie talkie, or assign runners for dismissal/check out

FUNCTION: EAA- Classroom Teachers


Located in Emergency Assembly Area Team (EAA) Responsibilities of individual teachers 1. Ascertain the extent of injuries and capabilities for evacuation. 2. Assess student injuries. If a student is critical, remain with student but send other students to EAA with another adult if present in class. Otherwise, evacuate and Search & Rescue will return for the injured. Teacher should quickly treat for breathing, bleeding, and shock before leaving a student in the room. 3. Evacuate classroom and leave door OPEN for EARTHQUAKE /CLOSED for FIRE 4. Give thumbs up if no injured were left behind. 5. IF A TEACHER HAS LEFT A STUDENT BEHIND, THEY MUST REPORT DIRECTLY TO A DISASTER CORRDINATOR BEFORE GOING TO ASSEMBLY AREA ON FIELD. 6. Take roll and be ready to report class status to disaster coordinators. 7. If all are accounted for, walk your line to the middle of the field. 8. Put labels/ name tags on students. 9. Supervise and reassure students throughout the emergency. 10. Ensure that all students remain in class lines until buddy classes/grade level clusters have regrouped. 11. Emergency Teams report to duty, while EAA teachers remain with students and engage in appropriate activities. Keep students calm (store other activities for students) 10. 1 teacher should be issued a walkie talkie to assist with student check out, or runners will be assigned. Wait for directions before dismissing students to Reunion Gate. 11. Take care of all minor first aid needs, send major injuries to First Aid 12. Assign paraeducators & other staff to assist with First Aid, or Command Central if grade level cluster is staffed.

FUNCTION: Search & Rescue


Located in Command Central & school campus 1. Report to Command Central to get master key, walkie talkie, list of injured & masking tape 2. Go in teams of 2 or 3 3. Proceed in orderly, pre-established sweep pattern, checking each classroom, storage room, & BATHROOMS etc., VISUALLY, VOCALLY, and PHYSICALLY. 4. Report the location of all injured students and staff to Disaster Coordinators and First Aid Teams. 5. Place an "X" with tape or chalk on all doors or rooms checked and found to be empty. (THE FIRST SLASH WHEN ENTERING, THE SECOND SLASH TO MAKE X WHEN OUT AND ALL CLEAR) 6. Use tape to write "H" on doors for help. 7. Report hazardous areas and condition of injured people found to the principal & command central 8. PRIORITIZE list of injuries to transport to the First Aid Area.

FUNCTION: Campus Security & Safety

Located in Command Central & School Campus 1. Lock all external gates and secure school ASAPincluding MPR doors Survey and report to Command Central the extent of damage to school site. Check utilities and take appropriate action to minimize damage to school site Close gas lines and water if necessary. Get supplies from container to Medical/ First Aid Area/ EAA.

6. Determine resources that are available for immediate school use: water. food, power, radio, telephones, and sanitary conditions. 7. Set up tarps and student restroom areas. 8. Route fire and rescue ambulance and police to area of need. 9. Post signs at gates telling procedures for reunion. 10. Report to Reunion Gate to greet parents, calm crowd, and maintain order (use megaphone if necessary)

FUNCTION: Communications & Student Check-out

Located in Command Central 1. Follow Disaster Communication procedures 2. Keep in communication with District Emergency team 3. Check with DC for student accountabilities 4. After attendance is taken, and Search & Rescue is completed, immediately begin to reunite students with parents. 5. Dispatch runners to get students to escort them to reunion gate 6. Ensure student is released only to those authorized on the release forms. Confirm that the student recognizes the individual and feels secure. 7. Have parent/guardian/adult listed on form sign out student as they are released, ensure you can read name in case a 2nd parent arrives for the same child. 8. Collect student labels and place in grade level box, if assistants are available, have labels in ABC order.

FUNCTION: First Aid Team


Located in South Field FAA (First Aid Area) 1. Ensure that all supplies are at the EAA & First Aid Area 2. Administer first aid and record information on extent of injuries and first aid administered 3. Determine need for medical assistance 4. Work with Search & Rescue Team 5. Keep track of and record time and location to which injured students/staff are transported and report information to the Command Central/Student Check Out 6. Line students up for treatment head to toe, in case of vomit or shock

FUNCTION: Crisis Student Team


Located in First Aid Area (FAA) 1. Separate hysterical students from EAA & FAA 2. Keep a list of students in this area and send copy to Command Central 3. Talk individually with students trying to remain calm and reassuring at all times 4. Until needed, report to assist with FAA
