About the Course

Fugitive dust emission and management is a key consideration in bulk handling operations ranging from the full gambit of hard rock mining operations, through mine processing, chemical/pharmaceuticals processing to bulk handling of grains and timber processing. As these industries seek to maximise output from their production line, enhancing productivity and capital efficiency, there is an ever increasing need for management to ensure the operation remains sustainable. In many bulk handling applications this necessitates well planned, designed and maintained dust control systems and equipment. This one day intensive training course will update your knowledge and understanding of all aspects of fugitive dust control from legislative requirements through concept and detail design to the operation and maintenance of dust control systems and associated which are both common and unique to all bulk materials handling operations. This one day intensive training course will provide attendees with the fundamental tools to understand design concepts, manage, maintain, operate and evaluate existing and proposed new dust collection/ suppression systems and associated equipment. Take away best practice principles and procedures that will improve your current operations and future plant expansions. The course is designed to be interactive, practical, and permit discussion and analysis of problems encountered on participants specific operations. With ever increasing pressure to ensure environmental and occupational health compliance, it is increasingly important to ensure that personnel, ranging from managers and supervisory staff through to maintenance and operational personnel, have a sound understanding of applicable legislation and technologies available to ensure high levels of compliance.

About the Course Director

Peter Dearle
Peter has more than 25 years experience in concept design, through detail design, construction commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting in industrial ventilation and dust collection systems and associated equipment throughout Australia and South East Asia. Peter commenced his career in Industrial ventilation and dust control in the 1980s as a design draftsman with one of Western Australias largest manufacturers of industrial ventilation systems and dust control systems and equipment. From this start, Peter rapidly progressed through the design department to become division manager in his early 30s. This resulted in Peter being poached by a young up-and-coming mechanical services company based in the eastern states, with a view to setting set up a specialist dust control design and construction division. This company/division rapidly grew to become the largest design/constructor of its type in Western Australia. In 1988 Peter, together with 3 others, founded the HVAC group of companies, which within a few years became Australias largest supplier of purpose designed and constructed dust collection and ventilation systems and associated equipment, with offices in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Jakarta. Since retiring as a Director of HVAC (now Aerison) in 2000, Peter has continued to be sought after as a free-lance specialist consultant for major mine operators, bulk materials handling/process industries, engineering consultancies and EPCM contractors across Australia and internationally to ensure occupational health and environmental compliance. In addition to providing conceptual and detailed design services and documentation, Peter also provides ongoing support and troubleshooting services for many clients.
