Data were available from 24 eligible patients. Use of TTSfentanyl was associated with significantly superior pain relief. Mean VAS fell from 7.0 to 1.1 with TTS-fentanyl and from 9.3 to 4.3 with P/C. The TTS-fentanyl group also showed significantly greater improvements of important GBPI domains including global quality of life, pain, and physical, cognitive, and role functioning, than the P/C group. Four patients receiving TTS-fentanyl and three receiving P/C reported severe nausea/vomiting. Results from this study suggest that pioglitazone has a more favorable effect on lipid profiles of patients with type 2 diabetes compared with rosiglitazone. In particular, differences were observed in TG and LDL-C levels. Both TDs were equivalent at reducing hemoglobin A1C levels. These differences in lipid effects may have an impact on cardiovascular outcomes. The fulll clinical importance of these lipid alterations must be further assessed in prospective trials. First, the finding that participants sometimes did use information beyond the sentence level for solving items confirms the claim that cloze tests can measure higher-order processing skills. 3. ANALISIS KESELARASAN JUDUL, TUJUAN, KESIMPULAN

[Conclusions] The Luvisol in this study was significantly affected by 9 years of different tillage, stubble retention and N fertilizer application practices. Positive effects of NT on soil organic matter occurred to greater depth in surface soil than on Vertisols in the same environment. While organic matter (organic C and total N) and exchangeable K in the topsoil were greater under NT than under CT [conventional till] and RT [reduced till], exchangeable Na was lower under NT [HASIL UTAMA].

The greater organic matter accumulation and solute movement in these soils under NT practice would be beneficial to soil chemical and physical condition and crop production in the long-term, whereas the concentration of nutrients such as P and K in surface layers may reduce their availability to crops. The decrease in soil pH with N fertilizer application may be a cause for concern, especially if the soil is already acidic and N fertilizer use continues [IMPLIKASI].

4. ANALISIS STRUKTUR ABSTRAK

No-till (NT) system for grain cropping is increasingly being practised in Australia. While benefits of NT, accompanied by stubble retention, are almost universal for soil erosion control, effects on soil organic matter and other soil properties are inconsistent, especially in a semi-arid, subtropical environment [BACKGROUND]. We examined the effects of tillage, stubble and fertilizer management on the distribution of organic matter and nutrients in the topsoil (030 cm) of a Luvisol in a semiarid, subtropical environment in southern Queensland, Australia [OBJECTIVE].

Measurements were made at the end of 9 years of NT, reduced till (RT) and conventional till (CT) practices, in combination with stubble retention and fertilizer N (as urea) application strategies for wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cropping.[METODOLOGY]

In the top 30 cm depth, the mean amount of organic C increased slightly after 9 years, although it was similar under all tillage practices, while the amount of total N declined under CT and RT practices, but not under NT. In the 010 cm depth, the amounts of organic C and total N were significantly greater under NT than under RT or CT. No-till had 1.94 Mg ha_1 (18%) more organic C and 0.20 Mg ha_1 (21%) more total N than CT. In the 030 cm depth, soil under NT practice had 290 kg N ha_1 more than that under the CT practice, most of it in the top 10 cm depth. Microbial biomass N was similar for all treatments. Under NT, there was a concentration gradient in organic C, total N and microbial biomass N, with concentrations decreasing from 02.5 to 510 cm depths. [MAIN RESULTS]

Soil pH was not affected by tillage or stubble treatments in the 010 cm depth, but decreased significantly from 7.5 to 7.2withN fertilizer application. Exchangeable Mg and Na concentration, cation exchange capacity and exchangeable Na percentage in the 010 cm depth were greater under CT than under RT and NT, while exchangeable K and bicarbonate-extractable P concentrations were greater under NT than under CT. [MAIN RESULTS]

Therefore, NT and RT practices resulted in significant changes in soil organic C and N and exchangeable cations in the topsoil of a Luvisol, when compared with CT [CONCLUSION]. The greater organic matter accumulation close to the soil surface and solute movement in these soils under NT practice would be beneficial to soil chemical and physical status and crop production in the long-term, whereas the concentration of nutrients such as P and K in surface layers may reduce their availability to crops. 5. ANALISIS BAGIAN INTRODUCTION Judul: No-till effects on organic matter, pH, cation exchange capacity and nutrient distribution in a Luvisol in the semi-arid subtropics

Prediksi informasi dalam Introduction: Luvisol in the semi air subtropics Effects of tillage and no tillage on soil properties [organic matter, nutrients]

5. ANALISIS BAGIAN INTRODUCTION

Introduction Tillage ACCELERATES oxidation of organic matter by soil microorganisms through changes in soil water, aeration .. (Doran and Smith, 1987). Therefore, soils under no-till (NT) generally CONTAIN greater organic C and N and microbial biomass than under conventional till (CT) Differences in distribution of immobile nutrients and exchangeable cations in surface layers of soil also occur between NT and CT Soils under NT practice are frequently more acidic in the surface and associated organic acids and changes in the proportions of cations and anions in soil under NT practice (Logan et al., 1991; Prasad and Power, 1991; Kern and Johnson, 1993; Schomberg et al., 1994).

From an analysis of long-term experiments, West and Marland (2002) CONCLUDED that the effects of notillage on soil organic C sequestration WERE positive, although most of these studies WERE confined to cooler, temperate environments [Informasi yang sudah diketahui] . In subtropical environments, because of their higher temperatures, there MAY be greater opportunities for organic matter decomposition, and a semi-arid climate MAY have lower biomass production and C inputs than sub-humid and humid regions (Dalal and Chan, 2001) [Pernyataan bahwa pada informasi tentang tillage pada iklim subtropis belum ada ]. Consequently, tillage effects on soil organic C sequestration in a semi-arid, subtropical environment may differ from the temperate and wetter climates [Hipotesis yang akan diuji].

SIMILAR STUDIES HAVE BEEN CONDUCTED previously in this region on Vertisols (Loch and Coughlan, 1984; Dalal et al., 1991, 1995; Thompson, 1992) [Sudah ada sedikit informasi tentang tillage pada tanah vertisol], but not on Luvisols, which have much lower clay content than the former, and possibly different organic matter and nutrient dynamics. [INFORMATION GAP: Pernyataan bahwa informasi tentang tillage pada tanah luvisol belum diketahui]

THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO ASSESS THE EFFECTS OF tillage, stubble and fertilizer management on the amounts and distribution of organic matter .

Mycelial growth and hyphal size as well as isozyme analyses indicated that only FS1 and FS2 were confirmed to be fusants. FS1 was able to form more fruiting bodies and higher productivity compared to the parent strains and FS2. Despite the excellent productivity of FS1, neither FS1 nor FS2 showed longer storage life. [Implication]: Future experiments would be directed to obtain higher number of candidate fusants and exploring other technical aspects of postharvest technology to improve their storage life ability.

Title: IDENTIFICATION OF RICE (Oryza sativa L.) VARIETIES SUITABLE FOR DRY SEASON AND WET SEASON PLANTING [Sumarno & Sutisna, 2010. IJAS Vol 11 (1): 24-31] [Objective] The objective of the research was to identify rice genotypes most suitable for dry and/or for wet season planting.

Conclusion Rice genotypes suitable for dry and for wet season planting were identified. Ciherang, Mekongga, Cigeulis, Inpari-10, and OM 5240 genotypes are more suitable for dry season planting. Inpari-5, Inpari-3, Inpari-8, Inpari-1, OM 1490, and Cibogo are more suitable for the wet season planting, while Mekongga, Inpari-10, and OM 5240 are suitable for both dry and wet season planting. The implication of the present research results to future breeding program is that rice breeding should apply season directional selection, namely certain breeding populations should be selected for a specific season, and selected lines are to be evaluated on the corresponding season of selection
