What is a pronoun?
A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a person, place, or thing.

Examples:

I You

She

He

It

This is Joe. He likes to read This is Amy

Personal Pronouns

Possessive Pronouns

Indefinite Pronouns

Personal Pronouns: The word that takes the place of a person speaking, being spoken to, or being spoken of

Examples: Person speaking: I have a blue shirt We are going to the park Person being spoken to: Where are you going? Is that your dog? Person being spoken of: Where is she going? They are playing in the park

Possessive Pronouns: The word tells us who or what owns something

Examples:

Speaking: These are our books. These cookies are mine Spoken to: Those are your books. These cookies are yours Spoken about: These are their books. These cookies are theirs

Indefinite Pronouns: Replaces a group of people or things that are not exact or specific

Examples: Everybody has a shirt Most of us agreed Nobody was happy
