With his last words his tells you he failed to find your father's body or plate mail but he does give you a name, Ninaran (an elf in Winter Haven) that is connected somehow to your father's death and a bronze medallion with a black sun that was carried by the killers of your father. Further: - Valthrun, of the Wizard Tower of Winter haven, recognizes the medallion is from the Cult Of Shadows. A group that he has not heard from for many many years but he does not know any more than it. - You learn the town you seek is Colford, which lies to the south.
