The God Delusion: A Book Review By Anthony J. Faber, B.A., J.D., M.B.A., Phd. (C)Copyright (2012 C.E.

) By Anthony J. Fejfar and Neothomism, P.C. (PA) In his book, The God Delusion, by Richard Dawkins, Dawkins uses a series of unpersuasive, if not, fraudulent arguments against the Existence of God. As a countermove, I am starting with several logical proofs for Gods Existence, which show that Dawkins is a fraud. First, A Proof for Gods Actual Existence which is analogous to that of Saint Anselm: 1. 2. Assume that if God Exists, God is Good. Assume that Existence is an important aspect of The Good.

3. Assume that it is Good to Exist. 4. Since God is Good, and since Existence is an important aspect of The Good, therefore, God must necessarily Exist.

Second, A Proof for Gods Existence which is analogous to that of Aristotle and Thomas Aquainas: 1. When watching a billiards or pool game you can observe with visual sense experience that causation exists and operates, that is, one pool ball is caused to move and then causes other pool balls to move. 2. Assume that the material universe is finite. 3. Since causation exists in the finite universe, for every cause there is an effect and for every effect there is a cause.

4. If one were able to trace back every antecedent cause of a later effect, as far back as is possible, one would find that there is an infinite chain of cause and effect. 5. But, it is impossible for the infinite to be contained within the finite, and thus, an infinite regress of a chain of effects back to causes is impossible. 6. Since an infinite regress of effects back to causes is impossible in the finite universe, there must be a First Cause, Uncaused Cause which started the causal chain of cause and effect, in the finite universe, who and which is typically known as God. 7. Alternatively, if the Universe is Infinite, then there could be an infinite regress of effects back to causes, known as the Unmoved Mover, and typically known as God. Next, Dawkins argues that religion is the source of evil. On the contrary, as Henri Bergson argues in his book, The Two Sources of Morality and Religion, religion is the vehicle which carries the symbols, and the stories, and the allegorical tales, and the parables, and the sacraments and religious rituals, which carry a deeper, authentic religion or spirituality. In other words, religious symbolism carries the hints and clues of a higher way of being, often known as Transcendentalism, which involves the Transcendent, not merely the mundane. Now, let us consider the Christian Holiday of Christmas Eve and Christmas, for example. If one observes the Christmas Tale by Charles Dickens, I think that one can easily see that a person who carries the Christmas Spirit in his or her or hae Heart, is much better off, and is a much better person, that one who does not. Ebeneezer Scrooge, who at the start of the tale, hates Christmas, is a vile, evil, scum of a person, while Bob Cratchett and others are good people who care about others. Now, this point is true generally. Empirical studies show that those who believe in

Santa Claus, and celebrate Christmas, are much better persons than greedy, small minded persons, like Richard Dawkins. The Christian Ideal is one which promotes reasonableness, and

compassion, and logic, and Wisdom, not bigotry. But, I must tell you, when moslems and jews persecute Christians, Christians have a natural right of self defense, which means that they have the right to destroy such moslems and jews, in self defense when necessary. Thus King Richard the Lionheart, later Pope Innocent III, destroyed the moslem scum, Saladin, at the battle of Acre, he acted justly and reasonably in doing so. So, it must be said that Dawkins has filled his book with rumor and innuendo, and with fraud and subterfuge and fallacious arguments, and thus his book is merely mundane sophistry and not worth the tedius effort of refuting on every tepid point. In the end, it must be said, that Richard Dawkins arrogance is only exceeded by his

stupidity.
