Presentations and theatrical practical examinations at university have not only enhanced my communication abilities, but they have also made me a great team player. Work Experience Aldo Wood Green (Pt & Vac) August 2011 Present (I work as the cashier at the store, where I open all tills at the start of the day and cash in daily profits at the end of the day. Additionally, I also take on other responsibilities such as, helping as a sales assistant as well as organising and controlling various stock deliveries each week. I have used my writing skills, gained through my English Degree, to help my manager with writing formal letters to Head Office and have also helped with other administrative work for the store. My communication skills have improved greatly through my continuous interaction with customers.) Hillingdon Manor School February 2012 March 2012 (I took part in the University Community Project module, where I helped out at a local junior school for Autistic children. My role at the school was to develop a series of Drama based workshops which would help to enhance the childrens confidence, teambuilding, communication and social skills. Furthermore, I worked as a teaching assistant during the schools Science Week where we worked as a team to make giant rockets that were launched later that week) Next Oxford Circus September 2010 February 2011 (Worked as a retail sales assistant where I was responsible for functions of the store which included sales, inventory and customer service. I made sure that the visual merchandise was maintained at all times so that the stores appearance met the companys standards as well as being welcoming and helpful towards customers. I also worked during the Christmas sales where I worked at the till point as well as tidying the stock on the shop floor.)

This particular work experience involved a lot of team work, as well as communicating with customers so that they felt comfortable and welcome into the salon.) Transferable Skills Meeting deadlines I have achieved and developed my skills in this area through my time in College and University when meeting numerous coursework deadlines at a time. I believe that planning for future deadlines and events help me to stay organised and efficient when it comes to assignment deadlines Interpersonal &Team Work As part of my University English and Drama degree course, many of our practical examinations and successful group projects were dependent upon collective motivation and participation. My work experience environments have been based in team settings, where collaboration, co-ordination, effective communication and commitment are all necessary to succeed.

Communication & Leadership When taking part in the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award I took part in various leadership roles Teaching children of different age groups at the local Punjabi Sunday school has improved my communication skills greatly I have gained excellent verbal communication skills gained from giving numerous presentations during lectures at University and College. The community based work experience at Hillingdon Primary school really helped me recognise my strengths as a project leader. I recognised that I not only work well independently, but that I can also direct other members of the group to complete different tasks, in order to ensure that we remain focussed and on target for deadlines. Interests, Activities & Achievements I have been a member of the Brunel Bhangra Team for three years, where I have performed in the Bhangra Showdown competitions, held every year in February at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo theatre. I have a Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award Enjoy reading novels and poems as part of my English Literature degree Help out at the local temple by teaching in the Sunday school Belly dancing has been a great passion of mine. I am part of a belly dancing group and attend lessons every week. Take regular visits to see theatre productions which helps enhance my knowledge of performances for my Drama modules Regularly baby-sit for family and friends I have taken part in the Race for Life every summer for three years, where I have raised money to help fight breast cancer. I also enjoy keeping fit and active so I go to the gym regularly Referees available upon request.
