2013 Season Outlook

Almas Softball program is looking forward to 2013 with great anticipation. The Scots return 20 players from last years team, including nine with significant starting experience to make another MIAA Championship run. After a second-place finish in the regular season, Alma battled back to claim the MIAA Tournament Title and secured the automatic bid to the Division III NCCA Tournament, their 17th in the past 19 years. Over that time span there have only been two seasons when Alma did not either win the regular season, league tournament or both. Recognized as one of the premier programs in the Midwest and known throughout the country, Alma has produced an overall record of 625-200 in the last 18 years, a stellar .757 winning percentage. The Scots hosted the NCAA Regional Tournament last year, finishing with a 3-2 record. Overall, Alma finished 31-14 and was mentioned in the NFCA poll several times and finished ranked 30th in the final poll. Along with the 17 trips to the tournament, Alma has made five trips to the Division III World Series finishing as high as #3 in the nation twice and is always a threat to contend for Regional and National Championship honors.

Spring Schedule
The 16-game MIAA schedule and league tournament should be a challenge and the Scots will also have a 20-game jayvee schedule and will begin the year with another 10game trip to Clermont, Florida. In addition, Alma was invited to the prestigious NFCA Leadoff Classic in Georgia, which follows their Florida trip. With strong returnees and an excellent freshman class, look for Alma to again be one of the favorites in the MIAA and a contender to bring home NCAA honors. Come and watch the Scots as they bring their trademark enthusiastic style of play to work towards another league title and NCAA trip. GO SCOTS!

New Field Update

Scots Park was completely renovated for the 2012 season. Updates included a repositioned field, larger dugouts, permanent home run fence, warm-up areas, storage facility and press box. In addition, a new state of the art scoreboard was added just beyond the left center field fence. Further updates will be added in the near future. We are looking to add restrooms, a new entryway, and seats instead of bleachers.

Traditions and Tidbits

The yellow gloves are still producing numerous wins for the program! With the gloves, our record is 621-197! Alma still holds the MIAA AllTime League Record for best batting average with .421 in 1997!
