Waiouru Primary Evasion & Self Defense Class 2013 (Based on Ninjutsu)
Not Sure What Ninjutsu Is? Ninjutsu is the martial art, strategy, and tactics of the legendary Ninja Warriors. It is a very rigorous discipline which focuses on balance, awareness, and adaptability. The underlying aim of training in this martial art is to produce a complete martial artist, and more importantly, a well-balanced person. The Ninjutsu syllabus is so extensive that it seemingly contains just about every other form of martial art in the world. It is a very effective form of self-defense. The upcoming Ninjutsu kids class at Waiouru Primary School will be focusing on the evasion and self-defense aspect of Ninjutsu. We will be learning basic gymnastics, free running (parkour), breakfalls, ground defense, blocks, escapes, and some counters. We will also be doing conditioning exercises to build on our fitness. We operate on the premise that a persons chance of survival in any confrontational situation is greatly increased through disciplined movement and responses, since being able to either fight or flee effectively comes down to self-mastery over mind and body. Interested? Come join us this term and see how you go. We all know that we all secretly wanna grow up to be a Ninja or a Jedi. Heres your chance to have a go at becoming a Ninja. This year Waiouru School would like to provide this amazing opportunity in a more formal setting. Children will be required to register, and pay a very small fee per term ($10 per term). This fee will go towards purchasing belts and gear for student use, as well as end of year prizes. Students retain belts once they have been awarded them. Protective & training gear are for communal use. We are very fortunate to have Sensei Doreen to offer to provide this opportunity for our students for free. She loves working with our students and puts a lot of hard work and dedication in to preparing each lesson. We believe that providing a more formal setting will enhance her already excellent programme. Ninjutsu will be held on Wednesday Afternoons at 3.15pm on the dates as follows: Session One: Session Two: Session Three: Session Four: Session Five: Session Six: Session Seven: Wednesday 20th February Wednesday 27th February Wednesday 6th March Wednesday 13th March Wednesday 20th March Wednesday 10th April Wednesday 17th April

Attached to this letter is the Term One Curriculum and the Registration From, with the terms and conditions of involvement. Please return the Registration Form by Monday 18th February. If you have any questions, please speak to Marama.

Thank you for your support Marama and Sensai Doreen.

Waiouru Primary Evasion & Self Defense Class 2013 Registration Form Term One 2013
Instructor's expectations of parents and students/ Terms and Conditions of Training: Training in the martial arts has inherent hazards, albeit controlled. In enrolling your son/daughter, you accept that they may become injured particularly when they do not listen to instructions as regards safe training. The instructor will ensure systems are in place to promote safe training, but is not liable for any student injury that result from student disregard of safety instructions. The instructor is also not liable for any injuries students may sustain outside of training i.e. as they integrate the movements learned in class into their play. Students are to comply with training rules in the strictest sense. Students are subject to immediate exclusion after the third offense (particularly in regards to safe training with training buddies). This exclusion is valid for the entire term. Students may re-enrol the following term, but will warrant an immediate exclusion for an offense related to the cause of their previous exclusion. Students who are excluded for the second time for safety breaches during training will no longer be invited to training, so will not re-enroll for the third time. This is to be adhered to without compromise. As a black belt, I have an obligation to the martial arts. The martial arts may not be knowingly transmitted to students who will likely harm others regardless of intent. A student who misuses any of the movements taught in class shall be excluded. Students are to sign in the training logbook every session. Unexplained absence and tardiness will result in "character building" activities such as yoga and meditation (with an emphasis on good posture) over a timeframe equivalent to their offense. This is to reinforce the values of commitment, self-discipline and punctuality. Parent/s must sign a copy of these terms and conditions for training. Without it, students may not attend any of the classes. Parent/s are to renew this contract every term if their son/daughter wishes to continue martial arts training the following term.
I have read and understood the Term and Conditions as set out above and I have explained their significance with my child. Childs Name:
