This document contains safety notices in accordance with appropriate standards. In the interests of conformity International symbols are used. Any installation, adjustment, maintenance and repair of the equipment must only be carried out by trained, authorised personnel. At all times, personnel must comply with any safety notices and instructions. Specific hazards are indicated by symbol labels on or near the affected parts of the equipment. The labels conform to international standards, are triangular in shape, and are colored black on a yellow background. An informative text label may accompany the symbol label. Hazard labelling is supplemented by safety notices in the appropriate equipment manual. These notices contain additional information on the nature of the hazard and may also specify precautions.
Warning: These draw the attention of personnel to hazards which may cause death or injury to the operator or others or damage to the equipment. Examples of use are cases of high voltage, laser emission, toxic substances, point of high temperature, etc. Any electrical work including connection and disconnection must be carried out by a qualified and licensed Electrical Contractor.
At Electronic & Communication International Limited is not responsible for any damage or injury caused by incorrect or faulty electrical installation.
Alert: These draw the attention of personnel to hazards which may cause damage to the equipment. An example of use is the case of static electricity hazard. Caution notices may also be used in the handbook to draw attention to matters that do not constitute a risk of causing damage to the equipment but where there is a possibility of seriously impairing its performance, e.g. by mishandling or gross maladjustment. Warnings and Cautions within the main text do not incorporate labels and may be in shortened form.

Path profile analysis will provide each installation site with the required elevation information, for initial installation it is sufficient for the antenna to be pointed in the general direction as fine tuning will take place during alignment For site installation, obtain the site installation information of each site, locate and verify the required azimuth and elevation is achieved before commencing to make any alignment to any antenna. For azimuth and elevation alignment, arrange each hop to act as Transmitter and Receiver station at any one time, alignment involves of fine tuning, and is an iterative process, to perform and establish one alignment per iteration. The objective is to maximise the receive signal at the Receiver signal for the hop. Before proceeding to antenna pre-alignment, ensure each end of the hop is equipped with known working equipment. Equip the transmitter station: Fully equipped IDU, ODU and antenna Set the IDU ATPC function to disable and that it is transmitting signal. Equip the receiver station: ODU installed Universal meter for RSSI measurement
10.2
Assuming that correct planning, frequency coordination and site sense has been carried out for a particular installation site, it is unlikely that the receiver will receive unwanted RF signals in the frequency band generated on that site; however interference from other microwave link paths is a real possibility. With the antennas basicly set to the calculated bearings and azimuths, proceed to identify and isolate the wanted RF signal in the presence of unwanted signals. A unique RSL lookup table is supplied with each Hiperion ODU, to specify the relationship between RSL and RSSI level, however the relationship is approximately every 10 dB of RSL equals an increase of approximately 600 mV RSSI . Ensure the serial number of the ODU matches the correct RSL lookup table before proceeding.

Figure 67: RSL Vs RSSI After full antenna alignment, the antenna pair is identified when the measured RSL value matches the calculated value within +/- 2 dB. Note that Blue Sky conditions must exist to meet the calculated RSL.

ANTENNA FINE-ALIGNMENT
Each ODU has a DC voltage connection for connection to a universal multimeter. This is a RSSI indication, and is monitored by the multimeter. RSSI indication is indicated by a voltage reading, as azimuth and elevation adjustments are made, the voltage level indicate the closeness of the optimal setting.

The above Figure 68 represents the RSSI level as the antenna is being brought into alignment. Location of the optimal signal strength should be at the maximum of its RSSI profile.
