Today we discussed TGL environment s Fabric and arrays Types of alerts, Monitoring thresholds SRDF and time finder clone

TGL is one of the biggest production environment in TDC .TGL supporting arrays are.4 DMX,3 CLARIION,2
CENTRA,1 VMAX,1VNX,1AMS2500

There are 4 fabrics named as fabric A and B,fabric C and D.The fabric A and B connected with TGL
TGL connected with MCdata And cisco
Switches connected to the fabric A and B .The naming convention of the connecting switches are SANSW114-DMS2 TGL containing the 12 management servers Types of alerts: There are three types of alerts Tivoli alerts, User requests, Some requests are forwarded from wintel team to queue These all alerts are generated from Tivoli Monitoring thresholds: For monitoring thresholds there is no separate alert mechanism .every month we need to login to the arrays and check the thresholds

Time finder clone : In the nabs application there are 4 clone copies those are focus aux,focus pet,pctv tctv and fas applications. Focus usage , focus cust and tiger are the servers Focus usage having one clone copy i.e focus aux Focus cust having 2 clone copies those are focus-aux and focus-pet. Pctv is a production server located at benars,tctv is a test server located at Delhi SANSS560 .
Management servers The management servers are working with windows operating system,TGL and SLET having 15 management servers for maintaing the information about ECC,Fabricmanagement,Connectivity. OFu,TAGA for unix connectvity.Current version of ECC is 6.1 they were using. these Taga and ofu maintains the san software directory. ECC is a consol it is running in all hosts ,installed by unix people.they are using ECC for storage provisoning and decomm. SMc also using for some hosts ,they were configured with DG. MSTSc is a tool for windows client connectivity.OFL,TAGA for unix connectvity.Current vrsion of ECC is 6.1 they were using

He resolves one ticket also in todays session i.e storage provisioning for tiger server

There was a request to allocate 50 Gb space in Tiger Server : Note : The request was for tier1 storage, Tiger got its storage from VMAX (1846) array.

#Symdev sid 1846 list noport |grep TDEV | grep 13943 You can view the free thin devices of 13943 mb size on vmax. When we executed this, we found two such devices. As the request was for 50 Gb , we need 4 devices to create a meta of 13943*4 MB. So we went for creating two additional devices : # create dev count=2,config=TDEV,emulation=FBA,size=13943MB; This created two devices ( 2546 & 2547 ) of 13943 mb size.
