ABSTRACT As Gandhiji said India lives in villages which has 600.000 villages spread across the length and breadth of the country, which are scattered clusters along the length and breadth of the nation.. Telemedicine is an enabling technology which reduces the digital divide among urban and rural India with ways in which computers and telecommunication can be combined to improve the quality of health care by linking remote sites with centers of Medical expertise. These rural masses are illiterates and often live at places, having no proper roads, communication, Educational facilities and most important medical care. Under these conditions it is very difficult for them to reach nearest cities in right time passing through inhospitable terrains. In the conventional system patient have to travel longer distances to meet the doctor. The treatment is costly and not affordable by ordinary men. Due to several such reasons and lack of education the rural people are forced to approach nonqualified, ill-trained health workers, which results in non professional medical practices, which are dangerous. In Particular women during pregnancy are most vulnerable. Statistics reveal that most of the fatalities do occur during and immediately after delivery. The purpose of our project is to provide the better medical facilities to the rural people of the world who are well isolated from urban population, by means of electronics and communication techniques, providing best of urban expertise to rural poor and illiterate masses. Hence we are proposing an alternate and innovative attempt to address the above problem. The proposed system is a microcontroller based design. The kiosk serves as a mini hospital for common ailments. It has the following facilities. Natural language query based interpreter (solid state recording based voice) Temperature sensor, Medicine dispenser, Automatic power down control, proximity based patient detection, Audio alarm etc This project uses regulated 5v, 500mA power supply. 7805, a three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage regulation. Bridge type full wave rectifier is used to rectify the ac output of secondary of 230/12v step down transformer.
