ABSTRACT Summer is the time when you wished you had an Air Conditioner. But, you would rather desist the idea because of the staggering electricity bills you would get once you start using the AC. And it would be a miracle if you could use an AC without paying those hefty electricity bills. In that case, it seems a miracle has just happened! We propose to design a new air-conditioner that switches off air conditioner when no one is there in the room. Recently manufacturers around the world have begun incorporating this facility in their airconditioners. This facility has some drawbacks. It defeats the very purpose of air-conditioner. Air conditioners are expected to keep the home cool by the time they arrive at home. In this scenario air conditioned rooms which are generally sealed from outside environment on order to prevent cooling loss become too hot to live till the air-conditioning is restored comfortable level. In order to over come the above difficulty we need a method to switch on the air-conditioner say 30mts before we arrive at home. This can be achieved by providing cellular connectivity to the air conditioner. The cell phone receives the signal from the caller and responds to the numbers dialed. For example if the caller dials digit-1 the air-conditioner is switched on and for digit-2 air conditioner is switched off, similarly we can map some codes for increasing or decreasing the temperature also. A smart human sensor is used to switch off airconditioner when it finds no human activity in the room for the past 30 minutes. Once the air conditioner is switched off it keeps scanning the cell phone interface to receive command to switch it on again. This can result in huge saving of electricity. . The step-down transformer converts the 230V ac to 12V AC. The output of the transformer is connected to bridge rectifier. It converts 12V ac to pulsating DC voltage. It is rectified with the help of capacitor filter so that ripples are removed and smooth DC voltage is obtained at the output. Microcontroller requires constant Dc voltage of +5Volts for its proper functioning. It is obtained using a positive constant voltage regulator 78XX.it provides constant voltage output irrespective of voltage variations at the input or load current. and temperature falls back to some
