YMCA Discovery Camp, Located at Black Mountain, Estes, Hendersonville, Oakley and Sandhill, June 4-Aug. 20: ** State child care subsidy vouchers accepted at this camp. ** Breakfast, Lunch, and two snacks are served daily. Rising 1st -12 years old. Weekly sessions, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Themed weeks with field trips, swimming/watersports, hiking, science/rocketry, crafts, songs, group games, a 3-day/2-night campout option at the Ys new resident camp (ages Rising 1st-12), summer family nights, more. $155 per week with one-time $50 child/$75 family registration fee. YMCA Explorer Camp @ Beaverdam, Environmental/traditional day camp located on 10 acres at the YMCA Youth Services Center in North Asheville. June 4-Aug. 16: Rising 1st grade to age 12. Breakfast, Lunch, and two snacks are served daily. Campers participate in nature, sports, adventure courses, team building, crafts, archery, ecology, outdoor cooking, camp songs, drama, group games, hiking, swimming, field trips, science, rocketry, campouts, a 3-day/2-night campout option at our new resident camp (ages 8-12), more. 7a.m.-7 p.m. MondayFriday6 $165 per week, plus one-time registration fee ($50 child/$75 family). Kiddie Camp is special part of camp with smaller groups and additional staff. Activities include nature, camp crafts, ecology, sports, camp songs, dramatic play, swimming, field trips. Story time and a rest/nap time each day. Two sessions daily: (1) 8 :15 AM 11:45 AM (2) 12 :15 PM 4 PM. You may register for either daily session, or both. Adventure courses, Field trips, hiking, swimming, campouts, games, outdoor skills challenges, more. 8AM-4PM Monday-Friday. $185 per week, plus one-time registration fee ($50 child/$75 family). Call 210-2273. Financial aid applications available for this camp. Wild Adventure Camp, weeks of 6/17, 7/8, 7/15, 7/29 8/5: Recommended Ages 10-14. For tweens and teens with extreme adventure on their minds. Includes challenging hikes, rock climbing, bouldering, etc. With one special trip each week such as whitewater rafting, paintball, zip lines. 7 AM-6 PM Monday-Friday. $200 per week, plus one-time registration fee ($50 child/$75 family). Call 210-2273. Financial aid applications available for this camp. Wilderness Adventure Camp, SLEEP-AWAY Camp, weeks of 6/24, 7/22, & 8/12: Recommended Ages 1217. For teens looking for that extreme adventure while wanting to sleep-away throughout the week. Includes adventure course work on Monday and then Tuesday-Friday campers sleep away at Camp Watia in Swain County while hiking the Appalachian Trail, rock climbing, swimming our western rivers, whitewater rafting, outdoor cooking, service learning project at Camp Watia. All meals included (T-F only). 7 AM-6 PM Monday, all-day T-F, pickup Friday by 6 PM. $395 per week, plus one-time registration fee ($50 child/$75 family). Call 210-2273. Financial aid applications available for this camp. YMCA Counselors-in-Training, June 4-Aug 16, 9:00am-4:00pm daily: Ages 13-17. Counselors in training will receive hands-on experience with assisting Youth Mentors in the day-to-day operations of camp. They will receive weekly trainings in a variety of topics ranging from CPR and First Aid to interview skills and conflict resolution. Counselors-in-Training will also have a teambuilding excursion away from camp each week. Counselors-in-Training who attend at least six of the weeks will be rewarded with a Carowinds field trip at the end of the summer. $140 per week. YMCA SPECIALTY CAMPS : Art, Lego, Sports, Swim, Tennis


YMCA Art Camp: Ages Rising 1st-12yrs. old. June 24-28 (1 4 PM) & July 29-8/2 (9 AM 12 PM.) Children work in a beautiful art studio in Black Mountain working in a variety of mediums including weaving, pottery, wax, and paint. This is focused art work and should be reserved for campers who love arts. $110 per week, plus one-time registration fee ($50 child/$75 family). Extended camp available at Black Mountain and Oakley between 7AM 6PM (transportation provided). Call 210-2273. YMCA Lego Camp: Ages Rising 1st-12 yrs. old. Weeks of June 10 and July 15. Fun, high-energy experience offering LEGO model building featuring working motors; unique, free-play bricks for creative model building; games and challenges using Lego bricks; many themes including robotics, movie-making, space academy, remote control mania, and more! $125 per week, plus one-time registration fee ($50 child/ $75 family). Extended camp available at Beaverdam, Estes, Hendersonville and Sandhill. Call 210-2273. YMCA Porpoise Club Swim Camp @ Asheville Y: Ages 8-12. 8:30AM 12:30PM. July 8-12 & August 5-9. Camp is designed for intermediate to strong swimmers. Groups will work on intensive skills and drills, junior lifeguard training, proper safety, and participate in daily competitions to introduce and acclimate children to the culture of swim teams. Must already have swim skills and be comfortable swimming in the water without flotation devices. $135 per week, plus one-time registration fee ($50 child/$75 family). Extended camp available at Beaverdam , Estes and Oakley (transportation provided). Call 210-2273. YMCA "Sports and Games" Swim Camp @ Reuter YMCA: Ages 6-12. 8:30AM 12:30PM. July 8-12 & August 5-9. Campers will work on increasing comfort level in the water through a variety of activities Including learning basic strokes, playing water polo, and boat and float time. Campers must be comfortable in shallow water without flotation devices. Extended camp available at Beaverdam, Estes & Oakley (transportation provided). $135 per week, plus one-time registration fee ($50 child/$75 family). Call 210-2273. YMCA Sports Camp : Several camps offered in June, July and August. Ages 3 - 5 years old or Rising 1st grade -12 years old . 9 AM 12 PM . All Sports Camps focus on basic fundamentals of a variety of sports including flag football, soccer and basketball. Youth All Sports Camps includes popular and nontraditional sports like rock climbing, cycling, hiking . Pop Warner Football and Cheer Camp focuses on flag football and cheerleading, with scrimmages, routines and one-on-one training. And Little All-Star Camp focuses on fundamentals of soccer, basketball and T-ball. and cost $95 member/ $115 nonmembers, plus one-time registration fee ($50 child/$75 family). YMCA Tennis Camp: Ages 7-12yrs. old. 9:00 AM 12:00PM. June 17-21, July 22-26. Children work with tennis instructors on skills, drills, form, the mechanics of the game, and complete matches with other players. Must come with own racquet. The is focused instruction and should be reserved for campers who are interested in developing skills in tennis. $110 per week, plus one-time registration fee ($50 child/$75 family).
