Hercules is a well-known mythical figure, renowned for his strong, built body and his club.

To many, he is considered the greatest hero ever. The characteristics he displayed, along with the actions he exhibited made the people in ancient civilizations (Roman and Greek) respect him: he represented the "dream person", or the icon, of the era. In Japan, there is a very famous comic character, a robot named "Astro Boy", who, in the days of conflict between humans and robots tried to bring peace between the two. Although both Hercules and Astro Boy are idealized versions of the societies from which they came, these two characters do not appear to have many traits in common. However, these two figures do share some commonalities in their underlying message. Hercules and Astro Boy both have incredibly strong determination. They both had a goal throughout the story: Astro Boy wanted to unite the robots and the humans as comrades and Hercules, at first wanted to get stronger than Zeus's host, and later he dedicated his life to try to forgive himself from the sins for killing his own children. Bringing up a child, parents always want the best to happen to their offsprings, with a strong will and future. By telling these myths/ stories with these characters to the children, it wouldve brought up children with the characters as the role model. The typical ancient Greek citizen was a man for himself community, with relatives getting into bloody fights and such, and Hercules was a man who was despised by the community, but still kept strong and fought for himself. Compared to that, the Japanese hero was a person trying to bring peace, which would have brought up peaceful minded children who cared about other people and respected them. Stereotypically, Japanese neighborhoods are a lot more caring and respectful towards each other than other countries. While Hercules was a demigod, Astro Boy was a robot. Although Astro Boy is from a much more newer story, it couldve always been another fictional character. This would have meant that these two were the dream quality of a person at the time. In ancient Greece a demigod, and Japanese people a robot. Japanese people are known as the bizarre tech-addicted population, and this could reflect on the fact that it is a robot who is to become the savior of the world. The rebellious characteristic of Hercules must have been affected by the people of Greece. Unhappy citizens, peasants, or slaves must have taken part in the process of the story making, since a rebellious character would not be ideal if they were trying keep the citizens loyal. On the other side, Astro Boy was a nice, friendly, human-like robot whose dream was to unite two different species. They are completely the opposite, which means the views of a public figure was completely different. Aggression was needed for civilizations, to keep the citizens from fearing the other countries. Japan has one of the nicest citizens in the world, and the kind of heros that Japan has must reflect on the growing children. Although things have changed dramatically over the years, however, there are a lot of obvious unique characteristics you can find in a specific country. Different countries have different beliefs and religions, which affect how the citizens of the country act. All these people with different beliefs make hero stories which characterize what

they believe in/ look up to, and keeps the tradition going. Heros almost all the time reflect on the culture.
