Just a reminder that our annual day is this weekend on 23rd Feb 2013 at 5.30 pm so if you have not confirmed as yet do it in first instance please at 92460923. The event is also advertised at Office of Multicultural Interests website at 2&eventyear=2013&eventid=393 Soon the assemblies in Pakistan are about to be dissolved with caretaker government being formed. As the decision on voting rights of overseas Pakistanis is still pending, please ensure that all those eligible for voting have received National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP). The application for the card requires attestation by another Pakistani citizen so let us know if you have any problems in attestation. Ethnic Communities Council of Western Australia will be celebrating the day on 7th March at North Perth Town hall. Finally our congratulations to Mr. Abdul Aziz Uqaili on his selection as Counsel General in Sydney who will be taking over from Mr. Azam Mohammed who has served as a valuable member rather officer to the community and will be greatly missed.

Islam, culture and education classes for kids have started from Sat 16/02/13 from 1-3pm. This term the classes will be every alternate Saturdays. The primary aim of these classes is to provide kids opportunity to question, understand, and grow. The venue is Nedlands at the Tressillian centre and the cost is $60 per family.

UWA PUBLIC OPEN ONLINE COURSES offer open online courses for public. Take a free UWA course Developing the sociological imagination on 25th February. Registration is free.

PIA ANNUAL DAY ON 23rd FEB (5.30 9 pm).

Please join us for an evening on 23rd February 2013. At this occasion we will also be screening a Pakistani movie Shahrukh Khan ki Maut courtesy of Ms. Natasha D Souza the producer of the movie. The original plan was that Natasha will also be one of the speakers to brief you about how this project was conceived but due to her new commitments in Bollywood, she may not be present. This movie with English subtitles was the major attraction in one of the Indian film festivals. This is a free event but for catering purpose we will request you for an RSVP please by 20th February.

Since 1991, the Australian Government has provided over 400 scholarships to Pakistani students, equipping them with skills and knowledge to assume leadership roles upon returning home. The Australian Development Scholarships program aims to improve sustainable, pro-poor service delivery and governance, primarily within three designated priority sectors (maternal, neonatal and child health; basic education; and rural development and food security) in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administrated Tribal Areas. This year applications for Australia Awards 2014 intake have commenced on Sunday, 10 Feb 2013 with the closing date of 25 March 2013. National Disability Insurance Scheme Launch Transition Agency

Do you have a disability or have you worked with or supported someone with a disability? Do you want to work for an organisation designed to improve the lives of others? If you answered yes to these two questions, then helping to launch a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) may be for you. From July 2013, an NDIS will launch in five locations across Australia. This means, an NDIS will become real for thousands of people in South Australia, Tasmania, the ACT, the Hunter area of NSW and the Barwon area of Victoria. The NDIS Launch Transition Agency (the Agency) invites people from all backgrounds (particularly those people with a disability or those that have worked with and supported people with disabilities) to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for employment with the Agency. The Agency needs experienced and dedicated people to come and work in these sites. There will be a variety of roles available. These include: Office administration roles Management and leadership roles Customer service and Front of House roles Finance and procurement roles Planner roles to help people with disability plan for their current and future needs (Allied Health qualifications required), and Participant coordination roles to help people with disability, their families and carers coordinate and access supports and services for these needs. Qualifications and skills for each role will vary. All roles will need people with good communication skills and an understanding and/or lived experience of disability. Positions are expected to be available from early to mid-2013. A small number of positions may become available in the coming weeks and months. These positions will be offered for a period of up to two years with the possibility of permanent employment with the Agency.
