Question: How to connect your laptop with internet?

Answer: There are two ways to connect laptop with internet

1) Either via cable/lan 2) via wifi To connect via cable/lan First, you need to install laptop network card drivers. Secondly, you need put LAN cable to modem and then to PC. Simply enough, wait for connection and you are ready to go. Note: But remember one thing, if your IP is static (not dynamic) you will need to connect manually to internet. Manual settings: So if your computer can not connected automatically then follow below mentioned steps. Step 1 Get your IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS servers from your Internet provider. Step 2 Go to Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections Step 3 Click on your lan card properties and then go to Internet Protocol Version 4 properties. Step 4 Click properties ( First try to obtain your IP and DNS servers automatically if everything fine your net should work - many internet providers not need manual installation right now.) Step 5 If your details are ready, just enter the details and click ok. And your internet will work .

IP Address IP address is short for Internet Protocol (IP) address also known as an "IP number" or simply an "IP," this is a code made up of numbers separated by three dots that identifies a particular computer on the Internet. Every computer, requires an IP address to connect to the Internet. IP addresses consist of four sets of numbers from 0 to 255, separated by three dots. For example "66.72.98.236" or "216.239.115.148". Internet Service Provider (ISP), will assign either a static IP address (which is always the same) or a dynamic IP address, (which changes everytime you log on).

SUBNET MASK An IP address has two components, the network address and the host address. A subnet mask separates the IP address into the network and host addresses (<network><host>). Subnetting further divides the host part of an IP address into a subnet and host address (<network><subnet><host>). It is called a subnet mask because it is used to identify network address of an IP address by performing bitwise AND operation on the netmask. Why a subnet mask is required? When a computer delivers an IP packet, it uses the subnet mask to validate whether The destination is on the same network or on a remote network. If the destination is on. The same network, the packet can be delivered by the computer. If the destination is on the different network, the computer must send the packet to a router for delivery. GATEWAY A gateway is a network point that acts as an entrance to another network. On the Internet, anode or stopping point can be either a gateway node or a host (end-point) node. Both the computers of Internet users and the computers that serve pages to users are host nodes. The computers that control traffic within your company's network or at your local Internet service provider (ISP) are gateway nodes. In the network for an enterprise, a computer server acting as a gateway node is often also acting as a proxy server and a firewall server. A gateway is often associated with both a router, which knows where to direct a given packet of data that arrives at the gateway, and a switch, which furnishes the actual path in and out of the gateway for a given packet.

Default Gateway
Default Gateway is an access point from where we can able to access the other network (Internet). DNS SERVER. The DNS server or the domain name system is the standard technology used for the managing of the names of the web sites as well as other domains in the internet. The technology of DNS permits you of typing names to your web browser. Once you type a web browser, the computer will find the address automatically in the internet. The key element of this DNS is the worldwide collection of its servers. The DNS server means that it is a registered in any of the computer to join DNS. The DNS server can run with special-purpose software for networking, features the public IP address, as well as contains the data base for the network names and the addresses of the other hosts of the Internet. Proxy server A proxy server, also known as a "proxy" or "application level gateway", is a computer that acts as a gateway between a local network (e.g., all the computers at one company or in one building) and a larger-scale network such as the Internet. Proxy servers provide increased performance and security. In some cases, they monitor employees' use of outside resources. A proxy server works by intercepting connections between sender and receiver. All incoming data enters through one port and is forwarded to the rest of the network via another port. By blocking direct access between two networks, proxy servers make it much more difficult for hackers to get internal addresses and details of a private network. A proxy server connects to, responds to, and receives traffic from the Internet, acting on behalf of the client computer,
