Nursing Management Plan

History January 14, 2013, Monday. Our first day of rotation at Doctors wing, ward at _______. Duty starts from 6am to 2pm. I was assigned to a patient who happened to be a DM patient, and needs CBG monitoring before lunch. So I have to prepare the CBG machine ahead of time, not knowing that my patient has already a machine for herself. But my other group mates were also handling a patient who has DM, and needs CBG monitoring on time too. So they have to wait for each patient to have CBG before the other could. So its like waiting for your turn. Im not saying that every patient should have a ready machine for their CBG monitoring. Its just that the machine at the ward is only one.

Time context January 14, 2013. (Monday) Around 11:30 AM

View point The head nurse _______ will report the incident to the respected.

Objectives Short term: - Those student nurses who have patients that needs CBG monitoring must coordinate with each other if which one should go first to have a CBG monitoring. - Prioritization of the patients who have to use the CBG machine should be observed. - The head nurse should be able to report the problem immediately in order to avoid difficulties or errors for CBG monitoring. Long term: - Provide a CBG machine at least 3 per every ward. So the waiting for turns wouldnt be time consuming and it would be a lot easier too.

Areas on consideration Within the organization: Strengths: - Skilled and competent staffs. - Providing quality nursing care/services.

Weakness: - Lack of CBG machine

Outside the organization: Opportunities: - This problem can be solved right away by the management.

Threats: - A patient can complain for the late monitoring and the hospital can be questioned too about the incident.
