engine powered. The manganese bronze propeller is driven by the engine through a triple plate over centre clutch and Hydromaster type S4 transmission with reducing ratios of 3.0:1. A torsional vibration damper is fitted in the drive line to give exceptionally smooth, vibration free performance. The design emphasis is on robustness and reliability. Safety of operation is also paramount. Safety is guaranteed by the use of twin rams on the propeller depth adjustment, (where fitted), and also independent twin rams on the transmission tilt system, allowing backup in each case should one ram fail. All hydraulic systems are protected by a main relief valve. The propeller depth adjustment feature allows the propeller to be raised in shallow water, protecting underwater components from damage. Other safety systems include mechanical backup on the clutch operation, interlocks on engine speed and clutch operation to prevent operation of the clutch at high engine speed, engine cutout on leg elevation on impact, and limit switches on the clutch and propeller depth adjustment to automatically stop at the correct positions. The hydraulic system for the tilt and propeller depth adjustment include positive locking valves to hold the systems in the desired positions. Positive locking on the steering system is guaranteed by the use of a motor brake which is fail-safe. On tilting the steering gear locks mechanically as soon as the tilting is operated.
Simple installation is easily carried out, comprising of deck mounting bolts and use of a hull mounted steady bracket DESIGN CHANGES MAY RESULT IN ALTERATIONS TO THESE for the transmission leg assembly if above 1.8m long. SPECIFICATIONS Transmission legs less than 1.8m long are self supporting through an integral steady bracket. All Hydromaster Units are contract specific, dependant on vessel design, operating environment and application, and our customer's requirements as to choice of engine and controls. We will then suggest the most economical Hydromaster solution. Please note, that it is 'Thrust' not 'Horsepower' that powers a vessel. Hydromaster has always provided a higher thrust per B.H.P. when compared to other's. .
