There is atau There are keduanya mempunyai arti “ada”. Namun, perbedaan keduanya terlihat pada aturan di bawah ini:

Pada BBOOOOKK 33, waktu lalu kita belajar tentang TThhiiss iiss, TThheessee aarree, TThhaatt iiss, and TThhoossee aarree. Mari kita ulas kembali pelajaran tersebut. This is dan these are mempunyai arti yang sama, yaitu “ini” (kata penunjuk untuk benda yang dekat). Bedanya this is untuk menunjukkan satu benda/tunggal/singular. Sedangkan these are untuk menunjukkan banyak benda/jamak/plural.

Example:

This is a pencil. (Ini sebuah pensil.)

These are pencils. (Ini beberapa pensil.)

That is dan those are mempunyai arti yang sama, yaitu “itu” (kata penunjuk untuk benda yang jauh). Bedanya that is untuk menunjukkan satu benda/tunggal/singular. Sedangkan those are untuk menunjukkan banyak benda/jamak/plural.

That is a bike. (Itu sebuah sepeda.)

KKaattaa ggaannttii mmiilliikk ini bisa digunakan untuk menyatakan milik dan bisa berdiri sendiri tanpa diikuti kata benda.
