The signs have an overlapping, origami-like structure that alludes to our unique students evolving and transforming through their school years here.

Integrated into the signs are 3" glass panel etched with multiple smaller triangular shapes, lined with LED lights that are sensor-activated at night. This suggests at the signage being incomplete, or a work in progress, as both the students and their art are always growing.

The colors for the back panels are the two darker hues, while the front panels are the two lighter hues of each. This helps give each sign even more depth. The purple is applied to exterior waynding signs, that way easily recognizable to visitors, the pink to the building labels, and the orange to the interior. This gradual shift from purple to orange represents the maturing of students at KCAI and to creative professionals.

Geogrotesque the typeface used for all waynding for easily readable type. For labels and headers, all caps are used. Sentence case is used for smaller, directional signage (as seen on main sign).

The signage is composed of 3" coated painted metal panels, with the white areas cut out with fogged white glass that appears white in the daytime and illuminates at night.

as seen here. the white type is made up of fogged glass that is sensor-activated at night. The triangles light up as well, making the sign easily recognizable in the dark.

From the side, youll see that the 3 inch metal plates exist on two separate planes. When coming from the base, they stand alone. At the top theyre connected by a thin piece of metal. Painted metal poles raise the sign 3 inches off the ground.
