Communication line or main CPU start-up failure. Time-out setting and start-up mode change cannot be received from the main CPU. Regular communication that performed at 1 second intervals in normal operation is interrupted. Main CPU or monitor microprocessor reception failure.

Trouble Shooting Codes

1) Power LED (The power LED (Green) which lights during TV reception flashes) Lamp failure Flash 1 time Confirmed after 10 consecutive matched at 500ms intervals. Note that after five match counts, the lamp cannot be activated except in the monitor process.

Troubleshooting Codes
Number of lamp errors will be displayed on LAMP ERROR section of service menu (screen 1 / 29). When 5 lamp errors are detected the set will no longer turn on. Entering the service menu will over ride unit shut down. The LC52D92 employs 22 lamps.

Troubleshooting Codes
The lamp error count can be reset to zero by enabling the LAMP ERROR RESET on screen 2/29 of the service menu.

Troubleshooting Codes
If the Power LED flashes 2 times and the OPC LED flashes 5 times, this indicates a communication error between main CPU and Monitor CPU.

Troubleshooting Codes
If a CPU and Monitor communication error occurs, the first step is to verify the integrity of the 3 cables the connect the Main PWB and the FRC PWB. If the cables are good the Main PWB is most likely at fault.

Normal Standby Cause

If the LC TV intermittently shuts down, there are a number of factors that may cause this symptom. Enter the service menu and check the NORMAL STANDBY CAUSE and ERROR STANDBY CAUSE (screen 1/29) for the following codes

Normal Standby Cause

The LC TV is designed to shut off in normal conditions that can be selected in the User Menu. This assists with Energy Star power consumption savings. If any of the following numbers or letters appear in the NORMAL STANDBY CAUSE the condition can be changed in the user menu. The Command from RS232C means the unit was turned off via RS232 Command. SLEEP timer command is located on the R/C.

6 7 8 9 A C

Details of Normal Standby Cause No operation off No signal off PC power management mode 1 PC power management mode 2 Off Timer Command from RS232C

Error Standby Cause

The LC TV may also turn off intermittently due to some type of ERROR caused by outside factors. If any of the following numbers appear in the ERROR STANDBY CAUSE, the unit turned off due to one of the reasons listed below

5 13 16 17

Details of Error Standby Cause Prolonged unspecified-signal input in PC mode Temperature error Monitor trouble detected Fan lock

Common No Audio Condition

If the LC TV exhibits a NO AUDIO Condition please check the OPTION area in the user menu to determine if the output select is set to [Fixed] or [Variable]

Common No Audio Condition

The Audio output settings must be set to [Fixed] for an audio signal to be present at the speakers. If the Audio output is set to [Variable] there will be no sound from the speakers.

Common No Color Condition

If the picture has no color (Black and White) and looks grainy with a sync issue while viewing a composite input signal verify the Color System is set to Auto in the User Menu

Common No Color Condition

Verify the Color System is set to Auto. If the control is set to PAL-M or PAL-N the NTSC Composite video will be displayed in black and white.

Common No Color Condition

If a no color (black and white) condition is apparent on all or some input settings, verify the Monochrome control in the User Menu is turned OFF

Missing Segments on LCD Panel

If a segment or block is missing from the viewing area of the LCD panel, the first step is to check the integrity of the FPC ribbon cable connection between the LCD Controller PWB and the LCD panel.

Missing Segments on the LCD Panel

Verify the integrity of the FPC ribbon cables from LCD Controller PWB to LCD panel. There are 4 ribbon cables (2 for the top) and (2 for the bottom) to the LCD panel. If the connectors are good then the LCD controller PWB or LCD panel is at fault.

Lines and Black Segments

If line or black segment is visible on LCD panel viewing area, the first step is to check the integrity of the FPC cables that connect the FRC PWB to the LCD Controller. Various stripped pattern on LCD panel can be due to a loose or poorly connected LVDS cable

Lines and Black Segments

Verify the integrity of the 2 FPC ribbon cable that connect the FRC PWB to the LCD Controller PWB. If these connectors are good the FRC PWB, LCD Controller, or the LCD panel maybe at fault.
