The Center of American Indian & Minority Health (CAIMH) supports community youth with a goal of addressing Native American health needs and disparities. The Indian Health Pathway (IHP) is a tool to help guide American Indian students throughout their education. Along with developing skills needed for academic success, the IHP encourages community involvement and helps to support American Indian beliefs and identity. Mentors and teachers help guide student development in five main areas: Academic Enrichment Service/Leadership Mentorship Research Community & Cultural Integration

SSHC provides two one-week summer programs at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth Campus. Students may participate in week one, week two or both.
Stay on campus all week, campus housing and meals are providedstudents arrive on Sunday evening and leave Friday afternoon. Explore health-related sciences, healthy living, research skills, and college preparation. Each week has different topics and activities. Meet other students with similar interests and have the opportunity to establish long-term friendships. Meet and hear presentations from current American Indian medical students, faculty, and healthcare providers. Participate in fun evening activities such as visiting Duluth attractions, rock climbing at the UMD fitness center, movie night and more!
