CHAPTER I PROJECT AND ITS BACKGROUND The Introduction of the proposed system will be presented in this chapter.

The background of the study, objectives, scope, limitation and delimitation, and definition of terms that will be used in the whole study are hereby provided. PROJECT CONTEXT Accuracy with ease, that is what computers and its advancements promised human beings concerning their day-to-day transactions and activities. Regardless of what these activities are, man has come a long way of figuring out what solutions to vast varieties of problems the computers may be of help of, and in the long run, it has been proven and tested on countless times that computer technology has been sought after as mens key to progress. Computer technology assures humans that it shall be a shapeless thing that will continue to innovate, change and develop as to what humans needs it to be. Nowadays, almost all transactions of vast variety of institutions are leaning on to computerization for more than one reason, (1) computerization expedites their transactions, (2) computerization provides correctness and eligibility, (3)

computerization keeps the institution to hold more data as it relieve the manual way of keeping it, and (4) computerization lessens the workforce needed by these institutions. A big fact as it is that computerization brought about many advantages and therefore increases its importance to every benefactor. In addition, computerization on every institution regardless of their nature of operation has increased their appeal to the perspectives of their clients, it is because clients finds their establishment as a more

proficient one since they are able to impose computerization which is on the other hand is expected to be costly and requires high end of technology. Central Bicol State University of Agriculture Sipocot continues to hone their students prior to the advent of computer technology, and thru its College of Information Technology, the institution is straightforwardly looking that they would be able to produce computer professionals. As one of those students who aspire to become computer professionals, one task we should be able to come up with is to develop softwares for the benefit of the community at large. In addition, the main concern of our study entitled A PROPOSED AGRISUPPLY POINT-OF-SALES SYSTEM is to strengthen the aim and promise of computerization to every business establishments. Our studys concern is to the facilitation and accuracy of transaction within a POS based establishment. The study talks about the generation and integration of proper programming codes that would make the proposed system fit as to what it should do, furthermore, interviews and study of other related literature is deemed to be of great significance. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY The Proposed AgriSupply Point-of-Sales System (APOSS) aims to achieve the following general and specific objectives. General Objective The main objective of the study is to provide an automated AgriSupply Point-ofSales System. Specific Objectives 1. To keep valuable datas of the establishment and to produce reliable output out of it.

2. To liberate the client from manual way of transactions and business processes. 3. To enhance the researchers capacity on producing and integrating programming codes prior to the development of the system. 4. To decrease the burden of the personnel pertaining in keeping of records. 5. To avoid data loss and security. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY The AGRI-SUPPLY POINT-OF-SALES SYSTEM is found to be significant to: 1. The School. The study would be another proof that CBSUA- Sipocot continues to hone their students on their fields of specialization and as well, the study shall prove that the school is able to touch persons outside the corners of the campus. 2. The Recipient. The study would benefit primarily the recipient since their manual way of transactions would finally be automated that will expedite their processes and would gain their customers satisfaction. 3. The Instructors. Being the instructors and consultants of the researchers, this shall enhance their capacity on managing students and as well as for them to learn together with their advisees. 4. The Researchers. Aside from this study would be the researchers passport prior to graduation, this study would entail them to develop perseverance and determination as to the accomplishment of their program. This as well would populate their knowledge in the field of study they choose that would make them more suitable as IT professionals.

5. The Future Researchers. This study is aimed as well to help future IT Students in their projects that entails the same kind of research. The study would be their guide and reference in one way or another. 6. The Clients. This is aimed to help the customer to make lesser time during the transaction and to accurate their bills. SCOPE, LIMITATION AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY Most primarily, the automation of the transactions is the very purpose on why the proposed system is deemed to exist. The PROPOSED AGRI-SUPPLY POINT-OF-SALES SYSTEM shall be equipped with the functionality of keeping products databases and other databases, fabrication of real-time reports and accurate computations on its transactions run-time. It is not always safe to indicate that the recipient of the system are all computer literate, thats why making the systems interface as user-friendly is a must. The system however will be defined as standalone and is not able to intertwine with the web-based transactions. As to the capacity of its database, the system can only store minimal database (preferably 10, 000 15, 000 records only) since backup utilities is out of bounds and would require more time to integrate.

DEFINITION OF TERMS The following terms is expected to be encountered in the documentation. POS Point-of-Sales System. Term usually used to address business establishments with product selling activities.

STAND ALONE COMPUTER A computer system that is capable of functioning or operating without the need of any other system self-contained. SYSTEM - An organized, purposeful structure regarded as a whole and consisting of interrelated and interdependent elements (components, entities, factors, members, parts etc.). These elements continually influence one another (directly or indirectly) to maintain their activity and the existence of the system, in order to achieve the goal of the computer program / system. DATABASE - comprehensive collection of related data organized for convenient access, generally in a computer. AUTOMATION The process of automatically controlling operation of an apparatus, process, or system by mechanical or electronic devices that replaces human labor. PROGRAM CODES - Special set of words that computer-programming languages are able to understand/execute and serves as the basis of operation and tasks to be done by a program or system. Programming codes is said to be in machine language. INVENTORY The process of determining the amount of current assets at hand. REPORTS - A generated summary of interrelated records database of the transactions carried out by the program prior for printing. (receipts, invoice, etc) INTEGRATION Is the process of successful combining various components, assemblies, and subsystems of a system and having them work together to perform what the system is supposed to do.

CODING - The process of combining programming codes with respect to proper syntax that is being governed by the programming language.
