Unpaid Internship Description: Goodwill Career Connection Center Program Support

General Description This position will initially be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Career Connection Center. Goodwill at Place Bridge Academy operates a pre-employment training program which serves refugee and immigrant adults who are struggling to transfer skills and education from home countries to the US workforce. The Career Connection Center is a drop-in center which provides close to 250 direct service contacts every month through classes and case management. Clients include parents of the kids at Place Bridge Academy, a refugee magnet school for Denver Public Schools, as well as a wider community of refugee and immigrant job seekers. At Place Bridge Academy students represent 54 countries and 42 languages. In 2011-12, the C3- Place Bridge Academy served 437 participants representing 20 countries. The Program Support would have a three-fold position. First, he/she would maintain a welcome environment for individuals seeking services from Goodwill. This involves daily office tasks as well as working directly with clients. The work with clients involves an intake process, setting up meaningful case management, as well as facilitating classes. The intern would conduct case management that involves developing a resume, job searching, and filling out online applications. He/She would set up interviews, prepare participants for interviews, and potentially go with participants to the interviews. He/She would also work on providing resources to support employment, which might mean helping the participant locate childcare, sign up for foodstamps, enroll in Medicaid, or anything else that would support employment. In addition, the Program Support Intern will help develop a program to increase parent engagement. This would involve training a select group of parents or community members who would be liaisons to the different communities within Place Bridge Academy. These liaisons would be trained to support their community members to find and maintain meaningful jobs.

Job Title Career Center Program Support Created By Hillary Prag Hours Flexible +- 20/week LocationPlace Bridge Academy, Parent Welcome Center, 7125 Cherry Creek Drive North, Denver, CO 80224 Start Date -- Immediately Essential Functions Manages the daily operations of the Parent Welcome Center at Place Bridge Academy, welcoming individuals in, assessing their needs, and making a plan for follow up Works individually with clients to critique resumes, cover letters and other documents that are necessary for a successful job search Fills out applications with individuals Job searches with individuals Answers to the needs of the school office regarding parents and families, works with the school mental health team to support those needs Case Management of women in training: supporting them with one-on-one tutoring, following up with their level of understanding, discussing questions or concerns they have with the process Supporting the marketing process by which newly graduated doulas find employment Assists in developing a parent engagement program that involves training parent liaisons from different refugee and immigrant communities to assist their communities with employment Attends staff and program meetings as needed to provide updates and progress reports. Provides Leadership, guidance and support to clients. Acts as a positive role model by demonstrating professional appearance and interactions.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelors Degree in related field and relevant professional experience. Must possess experience working with international populations. The ideal candidate would have a desire to promote womens entrepreneurial projects and have an interest in business development and marketing as well as health care. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess a current Colorado drivers license. Ability to drive on company business. Ability to be insured by organization's insurance carrier. Ability to pass a criminal background investigation.
