Goal
Steps to install SOA 10g R3 into Windows 2008 R2 - 64 bits Server.

Solution
1. Install and execute the RCU in order to create the SOA database schemas: ORABPEL, ORAESB and ORAWSM 2. Disable the IPv6: According with the document: Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3) Installation Requirements for Microsoft Windows Vista / 2008 / 2008R2 (Doc ID 444112.1) IPv6 is Not Supported IPv6 is used by default in Windows Vista, 7 and 2008 Follow these steps to disable IPv6: 2.a. In <system_drive>\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file, make sure the following line is not present or has been commented out: ::1 localhost 2.b. In the Network Connections folder, one by one, obtain the properties on each of your connections and adapters and clear the check box next to the item named Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6). This method disables IPv6 on your LAN interfaces and connections, but it does not disable IPv6 on tunnel interfaces or the IPv6 loopback interface. 2.c. Add the following registry value (DWORD type) set to 0xFF in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters\DisabledComponents Here please type ffffffff : This automatically changed the registry value to 0xffffffff , if you type 0xFF, the value will be changed to 41ff This method disables IPv6 on all of your LAN interfaces, connections, and tunnel interfaces but does not disable the IPv6 loopback interface. You must restart the computer for this registry value to take effect. 3. In order to prevent an exception on the Oracle Webservices Configuration Assistance

6. In order to prevent issues on the Run One-off OPatches and Run One-off Generic OPatches assistance in the SOA 10.1.3.5 you will need to follow the document: Patch Set 10.1.x.x Fails During "Run One-Off Opatches" Configuration Assistant with "ERROR: OPatch failed because of cmd. args. problem" (Doc ID 1134259.1) This document suggesst to apply the patch 8920270 before to apply the SOA 10.1.3.5 patch set 7. Apply SOA 10.1.3.5 patch set. 7.a. This installer updates the OPatch tool to 1.0.0.0.61 version. If you updated the OPatch tool to a newer version, you could face an installation error:

Erri wiigt fl ':pout1...\rceS4Oac\pthbt ro n rtn o ie C\rdc\0131OalA_\pthoac.a [:pout1...\rceS4Oac\pthbt(ces i dne) C\rdc\0131OalA_\pthoac.a Acss s eid] i Cpigflsfr'rceOeOfPthIsalr1...'Sae n oyn ie o Oal n-f ac ntle 0135 tg
Here you need to check the: C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_4\Opatch\opatch.bat And remove the Read only flag (same flag must to be removed from the entire OPatch directory) Now you can press the Retry button and installer will continue. 7.b. If on Configuration Assistants you see an exception on OPMN Configuration Assistant:

and you see in HTTP_Server1.log that HTTP Server was not started because the file ApacheModuleossl.dll was not uploaded, you can follow the document: ADMN-100015 and Error Loading apachemoduleossl.dll After SSL Configuration or During 10g Patch Sets (Doc ID 843239.1) Open the opmn.xml file and disable SSL for the HTTP_Server: 7.b.1. Open ORACLE_HOME\opmn\conf\opmn.xml in a text editor. 7.b.2. In the <ias-component id=HTTP_Server> entry, if required, change the start mode from "ssl-enabled" to "ssldisabled". After modification is made, the entry should look like the following:

Save the file and retry the Configuration Assistant step. 8. Install will end without exceptions but if you check the install log file and if you find that "Run One-off OPatches" and"Run One-off Generic OPatches" configuration assistants failed with the following error:

ERR Oac fie bcueo cd ag.polm RO: Pth ald eas f m. rs rbe. Oac rtrswt errcd =10 Pth eun ih ro oe 3

This happened on the following scripts: C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_4\config\run_opatch.bat and C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_4\config\run_opatch_generic.bat You will need to follow the document: Patch Set 10.1.x.x Fails During "Run One-Off Opatches" Configuration Assistant with "ERROR: OPatch failed because of cmd. args. problem" (Doc ID 1134259.1) If you have alreadyr ran the 10.1.3.5 Patchset without applied the patch 8920270 and the "Run One-off OPatches" and"Run One-off Generic OPatches" configuration assistants have failed. Then the following steps need to be performed: 8.a. Make a backup of the file $SOA_ORACLE_HOME/config/run_opatch_generic.sh cd $SOA_ORACLE_HOME/config copy run_opatch_generic.bat run_opatch_generic.bat.pre8920270 8.b. Edit the $SOA_ORACLE_HOME/config/run_opatch_generic.bat and add the line "-ocmrf <$ORACLE_HOME>/config/ias.properties" immediately after the -silent switch. i.e.

NOTE: Configuration Assistants must to be executed in order to complete the SOA 10.1.3.5 install, no matter if those failed and the OPatch shows that SOA 10.1.3.5 was installed 10. Update the OPatch tool to the more recent version like 1.0.0.0.64 (execute Patch 6880880 for Windows 32bits) 11. Before upgrade SOA to 10.1.3.5.2 please check the following documentation: ORABPEL START-UP ERROR After Applying 10.1.3.5 MLR1or MLR2 on Windows 2008 R2 (Doc ID 1240483.1) This is to prevent after install SOA 10.1.3.5 MLR 2 that BPEL Console can fail with the following exception:

This is caused by a corruption of the orabpel.jar file during install of SOA 10.1.3.5 MLR 2 Patch set. 11.a. Set the ORACLE_HOME environmental variable 11.b. Execute: set OPATCH_PLATFORM_ID=233 11.c. Apply the patch : {10.1.3.5.2 patch home}\9841044> $SOA_HOME\Opatch\opatch apply 11.d. Upgrade the SOA Database schemas. If you forgot to set the OPATCH_PLATFORM_ID=233 environmental variable and face the BPEL Console issue please: 11.e. Shutdown the SOA Server 11.f. Set the ORACLE_HOME environmental variable 11.g. Rollback the patch: {10.1.3.5.2 patch home}\9841044>$SOA_HOME\Opatch\opatch rollback -id 9841044 11.h. Apply the patch again following the steps above (11.a to 11.d) If you updated the OPatch tool and applied the SOA 10.1.3.5.2 patch set, please do not restore the OPatch tool to 1.0.0.0.61 and execute the rollback action because you will see a PERL5LIB error, and opatch will not work. Always use the same OPatch version used when you applied the patch set in order to rollback it.
