Tending the Garden Chart: What is the world (creation) like? Who are we? What are the gods like?

Ideas: This story seems to be a response to the stories told around them, it was better news for the babylonians, egyptians, etc. This worldview is not often lived out. Often we fall into the worldview of those around us This story is highly practical in that it doesnt concern itself with theoparadistoria (GodHeaven story) Questions: 1) How do we live or not live out a worldview of Genesis? 2) What pieces of this are good news for you?

World Enuma Elish

created from the carcass of the slain god MumuTiamet deeply imbued by the gods, natural phenomenon are credited to their action needs to be tended, but the task is monotonous and undesireable

People
formed from the blood of the god Kingu formed to relieve the gods from their work valuable in as much as we perform our function created with the purpose of tending this earth (undesirable)

Gods
highly human characteristics not all powerful can be killed lazy unpredictable multiple

The Gods take a special interest in people, and with the highly anthropomorphized gods, and the possibility for men to become gods, these are connected

Non-theistic/ Evolutionary

created from the explosion of matter the result of a lucky combination of elements to form things like planets a specic set of rules and laws governs this universe that create the conditions for creation to exist (Physics)

the result of millions of years of the progress of evolution. Our current state is not xed, nor was it permanent are accountable to no one, and thus we form our own destinies

there is no explicit understanding of anything beyond the physical Chaos and order seem to be rivals that ght. Humans exist as gods themselves ghting as order against chaos multiple gods we put our faith into, all bear our image, but none are beings

creation and people seen as the result of the same process, and thus are rarely separated

Genesis

created by the words the the god speaks described as good all things have order and place created out of the unknown desire of this god to create needs to be tended, tending is desirable

created in one act described as very good given a blessing of authority and creative ability (to create more like themselves) created with the purpose of tending this earth

creative by nature all authority peaceful rests and commands rest gives away the authority he has

creation and people seen as the result of the same process, and thus we are connected together with creation, but also distinct

Created in the image of of the god, and with a special place within creation, these are connected but distinct
