    The poem discusses the essence of love and the pain it brings. It says one does not truly understand love until experiencing its hurt. Though hurt repeatedly, the speaker continues drinking their own blood and suppressing cries of pain out of love. The second part reflects on longing for a loved one who never appears. Though the mirror of desire breaks from weeping, the heart still tries to sew itself back together. The last section is about a faqeer who saw a blind jackal being fed by a snake and decided to starve himself until God answered him. A voice then questioned why he did not see the lion hunting for itself and others.

    A certain faqeer once saw a blind jackal being fed by a snake.. overwhelmed by t he sight he thought of starving himself till Allah sent him from ghaib.. on the second day he heard a voice from unseen saying :

    " Are you not ashamed of yourself.. you saw the blind Jackal being fed.. why did you not see the lion going on the hunt.. killing its own prey.. and also leavin g the remaining food for others.. he eats and also feeds others.."
