ARQUITECTURA VARIABLE
(Virtual Rack System)
La aceptacin mundial del concepto de Procesado Psicoacstico, alent las investigaciones hacia el campo de los sistemas Virtuales. Solidyne crea el concepto de Radio Virtual y lo presenta en la reunin anual de la NAB en marzo de 1994 en Las Vegas, USA. Para aplicar esta nueva idea al campo del procesado fue necesario crear un sistema de Arquitectura Variable. Antes de la creacin del 262-X Digital, los ingenieros de Radio empleaban varias unidades de procesado, de distintas marcas, que cumplan diferentes funciones. Todas estas unidades eran independientes, rgidas y no estaban creadas para funcionar juntas. Por supuesto, tampoco podan ser controladas por computadora. Ni siquiera eran modificables por el usuario quien slo tena el recurso de cambiar de marca o modelo para cambiar el sonido. El concepto de Arquitectura Variable ya haba sido introducido por Solidyne en la 94 AES Convention (Berlin, marzo de 1993) como respuesta al antiguo esquema de arquitectura rgida de los procesadores existentes en el mercado. Este concepto implica simular dentro de un ambiente digital las diferentes maneras de procesado de audio. El procesador 262-X Digital es la realizacin prctica de esa idea terica. Dentro del 262-X existe un Rack Virtual lleno de procesadores. Hasta 18 unidades en cascada pueden ser sintetizadas simultneamente. Cada una de ellas puede ser conectada, anulada, o modificada para sonar diferente. El 262-X puede ser programado desde el frente mediante una rueda Scrub. Tambin puede conectarse a una PC. Ms an; al grabar en la PC un tema musical, puede asignrsele una de las 98 memorias. De esta manera cada vez que el tema es reproducido, el Rack Virtual ajusta sus controles para un sonido ptimo. Por primera vez en la historia de la Radio Ud puede tener una cadena de procesado diferente para cada locutor y para cada tipo de msica. UN POCO DE HISTORIA
La creacin de los procesadores de audio Psicoacsticos 262-X es el fruto de 25 aos de trabajo ininterrumpido. Los primeros artculos cientficos que fueron publicados en 1970, comenzaron a cimentar el prestigio internacional de Solidyne en este campo. En particular, nuestro paper de junio/76 publicado en el Journal of the Audio Engineering Society, New York, sienta las bases del concepto de Procesado Psicoacstico, hoy utilizado tambin por otros fabricantes. Estas nuevas teoras cientficas fueron creadas por el Ing Bonello, profesor de la Universidad de Buenos Aires y fundador de Solidyne, quien hoy posee ms de 15 patentes de invencin y ha sido galardonado en 1992 con el Primer premio Nacional a la Innovacin Tecnolgica. Las investigaciones realizadas llevaron a producir en 1980 la lnea de procesadores 260, denominados Psicoacsticos porque el procesado de la seal de audio, est basada en la forma en que el cerebro humano decodifica la informacin proveniente del odo interno, a travs de 30.000 fibras nerviosas. THE NEW 262-X IS THE MOST ADVANCED PROCESSOR ON THE MARKET The early 262 system was introduced at the NAB-93, in Las Vegas, USA, and has been recognized as the first processor in the world to be totally controllable from a PC. The Turbo 262-X is the new version of this line, completely re-designed, and is 100% programmable from the front panel or from a PC. Its Information Display, in colors, is the most complete one on the market and gives an integral picture of the state of the Virtual Rack. It also shows, at each instant, the real power radiated by the transmitter. The Orion 462 processor is a reduced version of the 262-X, at a low cost, but it maintains the level of excellence which is traditional in our equipment. A new Supermodulation technique allows both processors to obtain audio levels of up to 150%, maintaining the FM deviation at 100%. A BRIEF HISTORY The creation of the 262-X Psychoacoustic audio processors is the fruit of 25 years uninterrupted work. It was not even possible for the user to alter them, and his only option was to change the make or the model,

in order to modify the sound. At the 94 AES Convention, the concept of the Virtual Rack System had already been introduced by Solidyne (Berlin, March 1993), as an answer to the old rigid rack system of the processors that existed on the market. ECUALIZADOR DE DENSIDAD Es una nueva tecnologa creada por Solidyne y empleada en el 262-X y 462. La controversia entre sistemas de pocas o muchas bandas no existe en el 262-X Turbo, pues es el usuario quien define el nmero de bandas, pudiendo operar desde 3 hasta 7 bandas, cubriendo todas las posibles necesidades. El 462 opera en 4 bandas fijas. RECORTADOR DE PICOS RIMCA Es un recortador instantneo de picos que cancela la distorsin por IM asociada a los recortadores convencionales.

FIVE BAND AUDIO PARAMETRIC EQUALIZER It operates with 18 dB/octave networks, eliminating the limitations of the equalizers situated within the consoles, which are never able to control the sound on the air, because the compressors neutralize their action. The 262X digital equalizer, on the other hand, works in a coordinated way with all stages of the process. DENSITY EQUALIZER This is a new technology, created by Solidyne, and used on the 262-X and the 462. It operates on 4 bands (sub-bass, bass, medium and high) modifying the density of energy (instead of the level) of each one of the bands. In this way, their action is extended to the range of very high intensity sounds, where conventional equalizers prove inefficient due to excessive compression. MULTIBAND COMPRESSORS The Solidyne compressors digitally compute the Stevens maximum sonority algorithms, achieving a greater excitement of the basilar membrane, each frequency band corresponding to different zones. Therefore, each compressor is associated with a specific number of nervous fibers which are connected to the brain. The controversy over systems with few or many bands does not exist in the Turbo 262-X, because it is the user who defines the number of bands, and is able to operate from 3 up to 7 bands, covering all possible needs. POSITIVE ASYMMETRIC MODULATION Used in AM mode. This controls the peak clipper so that, while maintaining the modulation at 100% on negative peaks, it can be increased up to 150% on positive peaks, thus augmenting the average power and range of the radio. O V E R S H O O T CANCELING This avoids the reduction in the capacity for modulation of the FM/AM transmitter due to the overshoot in the band limitation filters. The Turbo 262-X eliminates this effect by controlling the phase during clipping. TILT CORRECTOR Compensates the rotation of the phase in low frequencies of the AM/FM transmitter, increasing the effective power of the audio signal by 20-40%.

DIGITAL STEREO GENERATOR (GS Option) Uses a recent principle of digital synthesis, which totally eliminates the need for readjustments. A new design of audio active filters has made it possible to extend the response to frequencies to 18 khz, maintaining high cancellation at 19 khz. With a distortion of less than 0.01% and a dynamic range of 92 dB, the sound obtained on the air is equivalent to that of a Compact Disc. The Solidyne stereo generators introduce a new technology: Supermodulation, which makes it possible to achieve up to 150% of the audio level on both stereo channels, maintaining the modulation index at 100%.

Orion 462: La mejor opcin para presupuestos limitados

El Orion 462 es la respuesta que muchas radios de AM y FM estaban buscando para ingresar a la era digital, an disponiendo de poco dinero. Con el 462 se logra una excelente calidad de audio, imposible de obtener con procesado analgico. El rea de cobertura de su emisora, tanto en AM como FM, se incrementar . El procesador admite entrada analgica balanceada o digital (AES/ EBU), segn se lo solicite. Dispone de 30 memorias para almacenar distintos ajustes con sus modos favoritos de procesado (20 memorias vienen preajustadas de fbrica, para aquellos que slo desean conectarlo y estar inmediatamente en el aire). It brings an excellent audio quality, far better than the conventional analog processors, and increases the coverage area. The 462 input could be analog or digital (AES/ EBU), factory selected. Digital outputs are optional too. It has 30 preset memories to store your favorite processing settings. You can recall it immediately. 20 memories are factory preseted for the people that only want to plug the 462 and go to air immediately. All your new settings can be done in just a couple of minutes from the front panel (using a password code), with the scrub wheel and the LCD display with an on-line English help.
