Present Situation 1. Company Background

Greenwich Pizza is one true Filipino pizza chain a small entrepreneurship that made an extraordinary leap to the big league. What started out as a small over-the-counter pizza store in the Greenhills Commercial Center in 1971, is now the Philippines biggest pizza chain. The initial steady growth of its business is credited to the entrepreneurial spirit of Mrs. Cresida Tueres. By 1994, her store counter grew to 50 branches. It was then that fast food giant Jollibee Foods Corporation saw the great potential in venturing into the growing market of pizza and decisively obtained a deal, acquiring 80% of Greenwich shareholding. The new company became known as Greenwich Pizza Corporation and went through exciting rapid developments with the mobilization of experienced marketing and operations teams. Brief History: A true Filipino pizza phenomenon, Greenwich Pizza began with an overthe-counter store in Greenhills in 1971. It has since grown into the biggest pizza change in the Philippines. The company was the brainchild of Cresida Tuares. With her leadership, she was able to grow the small pizza place into 50 branches by 1994. This was when Jollibee Foods Corporation stepped in to purchase 80% of stock, taking the company to new heights. Greenwich now has more than 240 stores and over 3 billion pesos in annual sales. Known For: Greenwich Pizza Corporation is known for its pizza. It has expanded its menu to include pastas and cheesy rice meals. Greenwich Pizza Corp., and new stores began to spring up within the next year. By June 1995, the company's branding had been altered, including the logo designs. New pizza flavors were brought out shortly after the Jollibee acquisition in July 1995. By October 1995, the company had doubled its previous year's sales. Landmarks In 1996, Greenwich Pizza Corp. increased its sales to $11.7 million, from $4.7 million the year before. The company increased its stores to 80 by the end of 1996. The next year, Greenwich Pizza Corp. opened its 100th store. As of 2005, the company had more than 200 stores in the Philippines, and had increased its annual sales to almost $71 million. Final Buyout Jollibee finished its buyout of Greenwich Pizza Corp. in 2006, purchasing the remaining 20 percent of the company. This made Jollibee the sole owner of Greenwich, which is still the case as of time of publication; Greenwich is the largest pizza chain in the Philippines.
